Trying out the Photocraft slop clone of Photoshop has reminded me how much I love the Gimp. Over the last few years it has really come a long way. www.gimp.org

Google is ramping up to punish the use of AI for content generation. They have yet to come out and say it but there are clear signs that they are moving in that direction. This could be a much needed boon for beleaguered human writers on the web. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMUA...

This is a wonderful article that gets to the core of why we still need humans, even if they are massively enhanced by AI. www.anthropic.com/research/vib...
I completely agree with this take. I invested over a decade learning WordPress and the Gutenberg editor drove me away. Sad really.

This is such a great article. I'm fascinated by JavaScript and the ecosystem around it. Old enough to remember it in the early days too.

After several months hands on with @payloadcms.bsky.social I can confidently attest that it is in fact the 'new' WordPress. Except it's better in every way and obviously built by passionate people who know what worked in the old paradigm (and what didn't). A breath of fresh air.

A powerful talk from @slightlyoff.bsky.social at #PerfNow. 75% of new devices with browsers are phones. The web is not successful on mobile. Many things try to steal links from the web and move them to apps from closed, proprietary app stores. The web is losing.
Now I've had to really get to grips with this, I love it even more. I now have perfect local copies of web pages in my own personal archive that even gets automatically synced with my phone, images and all. It really is a game changer.
The Brave web browser combines very well with the Obsidian note taking app using Obsidian Web Clipper. I don't know how I lived without it! obsidian.md/clipper
