The environmental impact of computing is an increasingly important and recognised issue: growing demand for digital services, data storage, high-performance computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) brings greater resource use and associated impacts such as greenhouse gas emissions.

This series of “byte-sized” training events will offer four tailored sessions focused on practical actions that participants can implement in their work to monitor, minimise and report its environmental impact.

In this webinar, we will present new technologies developed at EMBL Grenoble enabling fully automated, large-scale fragment and ligand screening and their application to the study and validation of key targets with strong therapeutic potential in infection biology. www.ebi.ac.uk/training/eve... 🧬🖥️📊

Exploring and harnessing marine microbiomes for a sustainable blue bioeconomy runs from 2 October – 13 November 2026. The series has been funded by UKRI, Horizon Europe, and the Swiss Confederation. Co-ordinated by: Rob Finn, Aurelio Hidalgo, Stéphane Pesant, and Tuğdem Muslu Ufuk. 🧪🧫🔬🧵

Join experts from across the field as we discover the general approaches and basic functionalities behind existing tools and practices used in blue economy. The format of the webinars is designed to encourage discussion around the topic and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities. 🧪🧫🔬🧵

This week marks 19 years since our first training course was held at @ebi.embl.org. 'A two day dip into understanding EMBL-EBI resources: understanding your data' ran from 10 – 12 September 2007. Were you one of our first delegates? Image: 2007 – 2008 events poster from the team's archives.

There's still time to register for our next workshop in the series. Join us on 26 November to interpret the effects of genetic variants on protein structure and function: www.ebi.ac.uk/training/eve... Course fee £50.00. Limited spaces remaining. 🧬🖥️📊
