it took me almost two full days to repost this so with how fast Sean is, he's probably halfway through those remaining 100 pages

This post is unavailable.

i know there's all kinds of apps people use to block their internet, but physically putting a framed print of Carolyn Drake's "Door to Hell" over the entire monitor whenever i don't want to use the computer has been working pretty well here

(it also doubles as a cork board; the back of it is filled with post-its and notes when i want to stare at a story in progress for a few hours)

ran into an old note and it's funny how much the reading order colors things-- as diagrams these should mean the exact same thing, yet we do end up taking away two different 'messages' from these ("fun stuff is often hard work" vs "you're having fun but the audience may not be")

tuesday late program / these panels were finished in 2018, and after working on them for another eight years*, i got them to 40% done *with some gaps in there

seeing this stuff makes me think how amazing it is that the law still has no defence against technicalities like "we didn't steal it, we asked someone else to do it" and "i didn't shoot anybody, i only own a gun, anything that happens after pulling the trigger is solely the bullet's responsibility"

this year i had to learn a lot about painting, but still come to the same conclusion every time, no matter how well it's going: as soon as lines disappear, i get very unhappy. turns out that i like drawings the most (who knew)

me: "i barely did any work on this, i really need to double down" folder with (just the) exported versions: 431 files

hey, i do have a thing for the thing, for once / from the giant folder of what ifs: the dredd episode i was going to draw (a long time ago) got sabotaged (along with everything else) by health issues, but here's a drawing i did back then

a few from today's short walk -- you won't be surprised to hear that i prefer bleak weather, but the pixar grade toronto weather that starts towards the end of september does get pretty silly #fotozozo

first ipad i bought in early 2016: still works fine, pencil sometimes doesn't charge latest, top of the line ipad that i got at the end of June to handle current work files easier: kicked the bucket after..... two and a half months. (bereft of life) (joined the choir invisible) (hashtag progress)

garbage days continue, but a bit more time on foot again this week at least (not to generalize or alarm anybody, but i'm beginning to suspect this year sucks) #fotozozo

i probably will use the time machine next to go back to 2009 where postage was so low that you could order a single book from japan

sunday plan, anyway, remains: pictures. since I can't share current work, here's a few pages out of a (guest) flashback sequence from last year* hallways and comics don't mix, so it took some doing to boil down what would be a stock "filing down hallway, dipping in and out of doors" scene in a movie

* done during one of the periodic times where i test if i'm able to get back to doing more comics, and the answer then was a resounding and dispiriting "no" on all fronts-- though it was still fun to do a few pages in the old Where is Jake Ellis mode

(whenever i -can- do any comics i always end up going "oh right, this is what i do, i forgot." since it's been so long. i guess it makes sense it would completely erode your sense of self and wellbeing if you couldn't do the one thing you were good at for years. so it goes)

a week of manga sleep schedule followed by a day and a half of clear liquids only diet seems like a recipe for ending up in prison, so i can only assume my appointment tomorrow is some sort of a manchurian candidate situation

they say protein for breakfast so throwing a dart at some Pasolini pictures (these are all from the same one; almost a distressing amount of great composition and photography)

even on a budget of less than nothing these are still some of the best-looking movies ever made. in the gospel according to st. matthew, he's often working with nothing but flat plain and a cloud, and it still feels bigger than all three dune movies put together

looks like the bluesky carousel will show you ten pictures but it will crop all of them- great job. some day we might have the technology to show the whole picture, but not yet

old times new times / out at night #fotozozo (zero chance this survives the bsky compression, i really need to set up a site for these)

adhd or not, "don't pop up an 'update app' notification in the middle of the screen when i'm opening it in a hurry to just do one thing, because i will do it and then it'll take me 45 minutes to remember the thing again" should really be part of the basic accessibility settings on every device
