If you have not yet been to see the scale model of NYC built by Joe Macken out of cardboard and balsa wood over a period of 21 years you only have until the 12th of October to see it! It's at the Museum of the City of New York, by the north east end of Central Park

Passkeys maybe technically great, but I’m surprised that there’s no way of disabling them in environments where they don’t make sense (think elderly folks/kids accounts, small teams) In that vain, I’ve just opened FB24847255: Ability to disable passkeys

I understand why MapKit JS is locked down/requires an access token, but at the same time it’s a shame that it is. It’s well past time for browsers to ship a <map> and <pin> element which renders using the platform/map of the users choice tbh

@bsky.app it’s super frustrating to be searching for cloud related terms and for literally the entire search results feed to be NSFW pics, even if they’re hidden Are there any plans to fix moderation/search? Just hiding NSFW results isn’t really an option when some folks tag swearing as NSFW

I'm a big fan of Claude, which works great. Occasionally I see a PR on GitHub that uses Copilot and I take a look at what's happening Every time I open a Copilot PR there's a message along these lines 🫠

Shout out to the cyclist wearing lycra, who, immediately after complaining at me moving to the left hand side of the lane (to give someone pulling off from the pavement space) opts to run straight through a red light super fast 👌

Truly, my kingdom for @railway.com to support TCP ports with custom domains (like they do for HTTPS services) Spinning up a container elsewhere to proxy the custom domain/expected port to the TCP port/hostname used by Railway gets old fast 🙃

The new cycling infrastructure on Karl-Marx-Allee into Alexanderplatz is 👌 However this is the third time in a week I’ve seen cars turning right using the dedicated bike lane rather than the car lanes, maybe it needs some bollards? 🤔 #berlin

Just had a flashback to when a friend customised a pizza but forgot to include either cheese or a sauce in the options When it arrived he opened the box to find a cooked pizza base and 8 meatballs rolling around the box 😂

Today in, "here's a crazy idea made [quicker] by #claude" I really dislike email spam - so I thought to myself, could I avoid that problem altogether? What if you had an SSH contact form, instead? Terrible idea? Probably 🤔

Today's #Claude experiment: what if we took a series of issues with existing infrastructure as code tooling and tried to fix that? ~2 hours of prompting later, I have a test CLI (in the most limited sense) deploying, CRUDing and performing operations on actual resources. Wild.

Next with a dynamic infrastructure dependency map, we could create/delete/inspect resources and their dependencies - and trigger any operations (e.g. restart/rotate a key) on that resource type) Creations/Deletions happen in a background queue, this is super neat.

This approach intentionally uses a new plugin model (where each Resource Type becomes it's own plugin, so that we can iterate more rapidly). So we can deploy a Resource Group or Virtual Network. Easy. (The Test CLI will be replaced, purely for validation right now)

Today I'm continuing experiment with #Claude, but in the #Infrastructure space. I've opted to include this prompt, because I'm a lil salty about all of the unnecessary renames over the years

Continuing on from yesterday, reworked the 'home' page with the intention of open-sourcing it - also updated the HUD styling and added capturable bases at the top and bottom Again, this is all entirely done by #Claude. Wild.

At this point we've got one pretty good map, so naturally I asked Claude to add support for multiple maps. So the logical next step is to ask #Claude to create another map.. not bad for a first attempt?

Now with a single player against AI too - this has been a really fun experiment, super impressive to see what's been possible in ~ a day of prompting from scratch All I've done manually is the prompting, configuring the repo/deployment in @railway.com, picking out sounds and changing 1 variable

A little further along still (and we're now up to where I'm at) - and we've got a real world game system going on, with tanks, helicopters and turrets. We need some more walls to make this realistic (lol) but this is genuinely impressive for ~3h of prompting

The thermostat in my flat crashes if you press the buttons to fast and takes 20 seconds for a full reboot It’s also got touch sensitive buttons that register phantom touches Quite the combination when it’s -9c outside tbh

Earlier /this year/, a Berlin bar asked people to come more often because they were struggling with increased costs They allow smoking inside, I suggested that some dedicated smoke free nights would increase footfall - as I’ve lost count of the number of people who won’t go because of the smoking

this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

Despite dozens of people mirroring my comments (to maybe 3 against), the owners said they didn’t think it’d be viable. It’s kinda maddening that in 2025 smoking /indoors/ is still allowed across the EU - particularly with the UK having shown that the “smoking area” works fine as a replacement
