I still donโ€™t know what the best approach is regarding user friendliness. But personally I think all web pages should follow the system color, and the browser should provide a way to override it in case you do need it (I think @zen-browser.app allows this)

dietrich@burrito.space

i can only read @leaflet.pub posts during the day because their bright whiteness jumpscares me at night, so i've learned not to click (thanks embeds!) is that a setting people aren't using, or lack of support for system color scheme?

Do we create a self-hostable service for content-addressed storage with UCAN auth now that Storacha is goneโ€ฆ Was thinking about durable objects + R2. Not sure about payments though. Maybe it should be an external layer on top? Every community server manages it themselves?

Has anyone messed around with WebMCP? I can't for the life of me get it to work. Chromium dev tools says it registers the tools correctly. Pi can connect to the CDP, but there's no tools ๐Ÿคท I registered both `navigator.modelContext` and `document.modelContext`

Found it. Apparently Pi said it was connected, but it actually wasn't. Had to configure a different port. Are regular users supposed to use this?

That said, I'm messing around with this for Diffuse. This is the missing piece. Easier to use then the skill, doesn't require copy-pasting. I can just ask it to change a Diffuse feature or interface, or create an entire new one. Without any upstream changes to Diffuse itself, that feels amazing โœจ

Made another theme for Diffuse. This one's based on the iOS Albums app. Started with a llm vision interpreted foundation, doesn't look too bad! Good UI to browse through large collections.

Quite liking this setup โœจ Niri (compositor) + Noctalia (shell) + Vicinae (launcher) MacOS icons + cursor Adwaita Sans is quite good! Not gonna attempt to restyle window decorations anymore, there's always an application where it doesn't work.

Swapped Niri with Umbriel (from the same folks as Noctalia). Niri doesn't support HDR so had to switch. My only dislike is that Umbriel doesn't do mouse shortcuts on their own so I had to do an annoying workaround. Otherwise it looks to be just as good as Niri.

I want a future with UBI and cooperatives, but I donโ€™t see what more steps I can take. Iโ€™m getting paid a little to work on a simulation tool for happonomy.org tho, grateful for that. Itโ€™ll simulate economies with alternative money systems. Joining a cooperative for tech work would be amazing.

Trying out @pi.dev. Not sure what to think about it. Iโ€™ve been using @zed.dev agents and that feels way more solid than Pi over ACP. I guess itโ€™s not as good as using Pi directly in the terminal? Iโ€™m not a TUI person though.

I was thinking about doing a memory setup, so it learns automatically across conversations. But honestly not sure itโ€™s worth the hassle over context saving into files checked into git or cloud storage (not considering multiplayer contexts).

Worth a try: my job is winding down, so I'm looking for something new from January. Senior software engineer, TypeScript and Go. Digital identity now, building features end to end: libraries, APIs, dashboard. Before: Protocol Labs, on Kubo. Remote preferred, I'm in NL. Boosts appreciated.

hacdias.comHenrique DiasHenrique is a software engineer who is passionate about open source, digital identity, web technology, and user agency. In his free time, he enjoys staying active, programming, photography, and a tasty cup of coffee or tea.

I did end up creating one and after exactly one week my account already got suspended?! Now I have to verify using my gov id to get access back. What the actual fuck ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Probably should've set up 2FA or something I guess. Not sure if my account got taken over or if this is just LinkedIn being stupid?

This job/contract search is such a pain. I might have to actually create a LinkedIn profile ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

We got our first usable alpha version ๐Ÿ™Œ diffuse.sh/4.0.0-alpha.3/ Silently cut the first alpha release not too long ago, but since made some big changes like: - Implemented the DASL MASL spec + `.tile` CAR files - Bi-directional data lenses - Audio engine rework

It's been a year and half since I started working on this, what a bumpy ride ๐Ÿซ  I'll do a blog post soon to talk about you can actually do with this thing. The default UI got a long way to go, but hopefully it makes somewhat sense already (you can make your own dashboard if you don't like it).

Just had a timed skill assessment test ๐Ÿ’€ I think we can all agree that these are a bad thing, right? I can't function at all when there's a timer before my eyes. How the fuck am I supposed to write functioning React code in 3 minutes?! 15 years of frontend dev experience for this bs?

Looks like what I've been building is quite similar to what the foundation of Patchwork-26 is. Lots of "tiny apps" (atomization of software, loosely coupled) + just the web. Local-first and where everything revolves around the content (data-first, can use preferred UI/view). Happy to see this! ๐ŸŽ‰

The security and document aspects are interesting too, glad this got talked about. This is an area I keep stumbling through. Web bundles, arbitrary code exec... There's quite a few closely aligned efforts, do we need convergence here? Patchwork views sound a lot like @dasl.ing tiles.

I love how Patchwork is "don't make me think" regarding data versioning, storage and collaboration. Whereas I went "do whatever you want" (also, I don't have an entire team for this) Great work @inkandswitch.com team! Very cool tech and demos ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Glad software is heading in this direction.

The composition of those "tiny apps" is totally different however. Patchwork opts for nesting/embedding views; whereas I have a combination of two classes of tiny apps: One user interface per tab with tabs being linked (using broadcast channels) and multiple toggleable scripts (apps without a view)

Regarding the personal apps thing, I think itโ€™s cool that we can do this, but it only works to a certain degree. How do we make it easier for non-tech folks & how do we deal with complex subjects? I like what I came up with for diffuse.sh as a 1st exploration, but I do wonder about other solutions

Whatโ€™s your favourite audio playback or browsing interface? (of all time) Desktop โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Playback: Winamp 2 Browsing: Albums app (iPad app on MacOS) Phone โ€”โ€”โ€” Playback: Music app iOS Browsing: ??? (honestly donโ€™t know if I ever had a good experience here)
