I do not know the broader context and I don't think it matters, but Spiderman coming up Omaha and going from the heart of downtown to "how am I in the suburbs already" in 2 panels is perfect.

Ok but that's just the right way to casino. I'm not here to gamble, I'm here to use $100 or whatever to have a good time.

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

FFS, NY Times!! He is not pursing “economic incentives” to “secure an end to the war in Ukraine!” He is giving Putin this money in exchange for gifting Lukoil to his friends, family and Middle Eastern bag men!

It’s vastly underated that one of the main reasons the far right hate Zelenskyy so much is he stayed & fought for what he believes in while they go from posting like this to fleeing the country within 48 hours

Like, what science has RFK produced? What Nobel Prize has he won? What literature award has he been given? And yet he feels like he can put on the Cloak of Good Approval earned by the White Appreciation Society despite his lack of accomplishment because of his group membership.

Here is the Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs, spreading the antisemitic conspiracy theory that the Soros family are the puppet masters behind the election in Brazil yesterday. The Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs seems to see it as his job to make the Diaspora less safe.

Sounds the students may have successfully charged a horrible person off campus for good, well done.

Pat McAfee says he was "uncomfortable" during Utah College GameDay and alluded to the Charlie Kirk killing. This all comes after a school video of students commenting about him upset him. Also said he might not show up if GameDay goes back there. www.nytimes.com/athletic/772...

one of the really useful takeaways from fukuyama's political order books is a clear conceptual understanding of what corruption *is* in its fundamental nature. and the answer... is patronage networks organized on personal connections! corruption is *inherent* in these discretionary systems!

I have many complaints about the choices made by Omaha in the 20th century, but going whole hog and annexing *every other city in the county* they were legally able to means there are 4* left, 2 still too far to annex and one* historical quirk. *Boys Town doesn't count, lol

Ngl I’m rotating a theory that municipal fragmentation is uniquely destructive to new housing construction.

Local elected officials like IZ because it lets them kill new housing on behalf of their NIMBY homeowner constituents while posing as friends of the poor who stood up to the hated developers.

People think that IZ requirements force developers to take lower profit margins. In reality, developers have to deliver competitive returns to investors so IZ means nothing gets built until market rate rents are high enough to cover development costs *and* the necessary cross subsidy for BMR units.

Subsidized housing is a good thing and we should publicly fund it instead of relying on kludgy, counterproductive market mechanisms that trade broad middle class housing affordability for a handful of means-tested units.

While this system does pretty effectively maximize the percentage of new apartments that are set aside as below market housing for low income people in new buildings, it does so at TREMENDOUS cost to broad housing affordability. cayimby.org/blog/califor...

"Violate the governor" Rape is how he understands every sort of transaction he engages because this man is a rapist.

The Governor said no.
The Supreme Court said no.   And the last time he tried to send the National Guard in, it cost taxpayers $21 million.   Never again. Trump is not a king.

Feel however you personally want about him, no other president had a weird statue of themselves in a Barcelona pub.

I’m sorry, but this is wrong. Obama is actually, mathematically the most popular politician in the world. Trump is among the least. The smartest thing Obama could do is make this midterm about how much people miss his presidency.

The Founders would have plainly understood numerous Trump scandals as outright treason. Honestly, pre-1980 the public would have just thought of a president who behaved like Trump as a traitor.

Andy Craig@andycraig.bsky.social

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.
