Alexa+ is becoming a little too confident for my liking. 😂 I asked what SEC football games were tonight. It confidently told me Alabama and Ole Miss were both playing at 11 PM, complete with opponents and locations. I said, “I think both teams play tomorrow.” Alexa+ then gave me actual games. 🤷‍♀️

This made me think of college life lately. 😂 An app for safety. An app for dining. An app for classes. An app for activities. An app for communication… I’m starting to wonder if college comes with a degree in app management. Anyone else?

What changes when we stop rushing children toward the lesson we planned and start noticing the learning already unfolding? A visit with Julie’s six-year-old granddaughter becomes a fresh look at the remarkable power of one-on-one attention. 🎧 blog.bravewriter.com/podcast-hot-...

I’ve noticed something about my reading habits. I used to be a one-book-at-a-time reader. Now I’m rotating between: 📖 The Art of Noticing (curiosity) 🚀 Project Hail Mary (fun) ⛪️ Reluctant Saint (on my son’s Lipscomb reading list) Different books, different reasons. Still enjoying the journey. 📚

I’ve been thinking about this question: How do we notice the many ways learning shows up along the way? I finally started writing about it. My first post for Learning to Notice is live on Substack. What moments have made you realize someone was truly learning? open.substack.com/pub/tishaben...

open.substack.comLearning to NoticeExploring how children learn, what we notice along the way, and what we can discover when we play closer attention.

Started listening to The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett yesterday. I love that first moment with a new book — before you know which ideas will stick, which sentences you’ll return to, or what connections you’ll make. What are you reading (or listening to) that is making you think?

Learning to Notice isn’t about having better answers. It’s about asking better questions. Before jumping to “What’s wrong?” try asking: “What am I noticing?” “What might explain this?” “What else could be true?” Curiosity usually gets us farther than certainty.

Homeschooling an only child comes with unique opportunities and questions. I’m excited to be presenting “The Power of One: Homeschooling an Only Child with Intention” at the Curve Homeschool Conference on June 27 in Nashville. Hope to see fellow homeschoolers there! 📚✨ #Homeschooling

Just woke up my homeschool high school senior at 12 noon. 😂 In his defense, he finished two dual enrollment classes yesterday and is wrapping up Calculus… so he’s basically in “graduated” mode. But I’m over here like: Congrats on your academic success… but you still need to get out of bed.” ☀️

It is VITALLY important that those of us who disagreed with Charlie Kirk on every point of politics and culture say LOUDLY that this shooting was an act of evil that should be condemned by every person with a single shred of decency. May light eternal shine upon him. apnews.com/live/utah-va...

Finish every day, and be done with it. You’ve done what you could; Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. —Ralph Waldo Emerson

“But the Emperor has nothing at all on!” said a little child. My high school son is diving into The Emperor’s New Clothes—reading, analyzing, and writing. He’s not one to shy away from tough topics, and I’m curious to see what connections he makes to our world today.

I’ve rarely felt as embarrassed to be an American and as sickened as I do today. Respect and diplomacy are essential on the world stage, but today’s Oval Office exchange showed neither. Supporting allies shouldn’t come with demands for gratitude. #StandWithUkraine

Does your little one want to hear the same book over and over and over again? The repetition can be a little maddening for us as parents, but for children it’s actually very beneficial. (Thread 🧵)
