The Social Reckoning is such a strange thing to make a movie about, mostly because there was no reckoning. In fact, I’m not sure anything really changed.

Me vibecoding: Amazing, the possibilities are endless. Other people vibecoding: Ew, look at that sloppity slop slop.

I have no delusions of changing sentiment on this, but if we’re being honest and not street teamers, the accurate term is neither AI or SI. We have slices of real intelligence gathered and ground into an amalgamation. It’s quasi intelligence (QI). Maybe useful, maybe not.

A nonfiction book written in, let’s say, the year 1795, is most likely still around in a library somewhere and every other work it referred to is probably accessible in some archive as well. A nonfiction book written in 2007 probably cites a bunch of urls that are dead or rotted beyond recognition.

People are praising the Panthers for being patient with Bryce Young and letting him develop. They gave up so much to get him there was no other choice. There was no Plan B.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Charlotte Writers Club’s Best of Open Mic showcase this past weekend. It was great to perform for such an engaging crowd and soak in the work of other local writers. Writing is for humans.

Not your mother's CSS As with any time spent fiddling with CSS, I had a good time writing this!

Justice for CSS: in defense of the girliest programming language. Calling CSS easy or unserious should be tired by now. It can build holographic Pokémon cards and 3D-rendering engines, yet it’s still dismissed as decorative. www.wired.com/story/justic...

"And crawling on the planet's face, some insects called the human race. Lost in time, and lost in space. And meaning." — The Rocky Horror Picture Show One of my favorite lines of all time and a proper tribute to Tim Curry.

"It is a peculiarity of man that he can only live by looking to the future—sub specie aeternitatis. And this is his salvation in the most difficult moments of his existence, although he sometimes has to force his mind to the task." — Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

We already have AI back on my home planet and it’s fine; we live rich creative lives at a standard of living that even the wealthy on Earth find hard to sustain, because our stress is a lot lower. Y’all need to chillax, the future is cool. Unless we die I mean some planets die here.

When the Declaration got signed, how long did the signors expect that independence to last? Six months? A few years? There were no prediction markets back then. We somehow beat the odds. Though the American experiment still needs to be refined, it got some things right. Happy 250th 🇺🇸

I believe in open social and I've enjoyed experimenting with ATProto, but Bluesky is not going to make it if this is the strategy. Time to start preparing for that reality.
