A re-introduction to my new followers. I'm Tim, a photographer in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. You'll mostly find me posting wildlife shots here. But be warned, I may also sprinkle in some sports (Go #oilers) and the occasional political post. Look forward to connecting!

Welcome to Alberta where you can fly an Oilers flag at a school but not a Treaty, Metis, or Pride Flag. In the words of the Minister, this is to β€œremove politics and ideology” from the classroom. Nothing removes politics and ideology quite like dictating which flags are acceptable and which aren't.

ctvnews.caAlberta unfurling new flag rules limiting what can go up outside schoolsAlberta is rolling out its flag restrictions in schools across the province.

Relieved that the majority of my fellow Albertans voted to stay in Canada. Demoralized that a majority also voted that the child of a temporary foreign worker or refugee shouldn't have access to health care or education. Yesterday doesn't really feel like a win. #canada #ABleg

I’ve worked hard to try to bring awareness to the wildlife of the Boreal Forest especially with animals that rarely receive much attention. Nice to see one of my porcupine photos recognized. #porcupine #borealforest #photographyawards #nature #wildlife

Here's a grizzly bear seen just after coming out of the woods and getting ready to cross over the road. Always a good reminder to limit your speed when you're in bear country! #wildlife #bears

Started a new adventure yesterday. This is Berk, an Assistance Dog in Training for Dogs with Wings Assistance Dog Society. She'll be living with us for the next year as she prepares for a future role as an Assistance. But first, she's got a few weeks of rehab to do following a knee injury.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. First observed in 2013 as Orange Shirt Day, it is a day for public commemoration, learning and reflection on the history and intergenerational trauma of the Residential School System in Canada.

14 bears have been killed by government-endorsed hunters in Alberta. 🐻 We have no idea why. In July 2024, Alberta’s Wildlife Management Responder Network was announced and promoted as a way to β€œprotect Albertans’ lives and livelihoods.” β†’

First Nations in this province are certainly doing a lot of heavy lifting recently. Between this and fighting the separatists, I am feeling a tremendous amount of gratitude. #ableg

BREAKING! "Saddle Lake Cree Nation is asserting its Treaty rights and jurisdiction to provide safe refuge for those seeking and providing gender-affirming care. Any Albertan will be able to access gender-affirming care on Saddle Lake Cree Nation reserved lands and territories"

My rallying cry. We must reject these nine noxious questions, which are cynically designed to incite discrimination and foment distrust in our courts, our county, and our fellow Canadians. Say no to the nine. And please read snd share. #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli #Canada #Alberta #notothenine

Senator Simons has long been one of my favourite authors and journalists. Her voice as a Senator is as important as ever.

I have NO regrets about leaving Musk’s site. But I wish I could extend my reach here, with Alberta’s referendum hard upon us. Don’t be shy. Please follow. Please recommend me to your friends. I post about Canadian politics, Alberta, Edmonton, and an absurd array of other topics! #cdnpoli
