Aw, heck. Quite the innings though.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Occasional politics mention - good news today from Serbia and Brazil. The latter was a worry, as someone who’d like to keep the Amazon forest.

Noodling with bits for a possible pdf mini-supplement for Frisson, and wondering whether they should just go into a revision of the corebook instead. Hm.

I spotted Dragonmeet seminars are up now. Interesting mix of practical stuff; theory stuff; applications and adjacencies (eg therapeutic angles). Worth a look for deep nerding out. A Friday evening programme for industry folks is suppose to be coming but not out yet. dragonmeet.co.uk/seminars

Series 2 of the Big Finish Omega Factor series completed with ep 4. Series threads resolved - and new ones left hanging. There is a series 3, which I don’t have - maybe in a future sale.

Huh, 'tabletop role-playing games' is appearing in Bsky trends. For my own beginnings in the hobby, I don't actually remember the first step. I know that Marvel Superheroes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Toon were among my earliest acquisitions, and I photocopied T&T from a kid at school.

... How I knew they existed in the first place, I don't know. Maybe they were in a shop I went to for something else. Then played Call of Cthulhu and D&D at university... and I ran Bard Games' Atlantis Trilogy for a while.

I think my ability to distinguish between "I am feeling weirdly anxious and low today" and "I am just a person having a totally normal reaction to being alive during the 2020s" might have completely vanished.

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

Update on the use of AI text in Chaosium Community Content programs @drivethrurpg.com. TL/DR: Don't use it in our programs. AI is not art. It is theft from you and every writer who has gone before you, repackaged dishonestly and shamelessly as original. www.chaosium.com/blogupdate-o...

Main achievement of day: going to shops. Otherwise, hard to focus on anything. I shall blame yesterday's flu jab + today's dark weather, and aim towards sleep.

Shimmering Iris 🌱✨ a new piece in my ongoing series of paintings called ‘A Starry Place’ where I explore spaces meaningful and nostalgic to me.

A small expedition to get my flu jab. Chatting to the nurse, she mentioned that covid is around, so take care. On the way back, encountered a bargain plants stall. I’m a sucker for succulents.

Editing work is lining up for autumn, but if you need any help with editing, proofreading or misc word-wrangling for your ttrpg, do get in touch. I'm known for thorough work with high accuracy and helpful feedback, and have worked on lines from WFRP to Liminal. silverbranch.co.uk/ttrpg-editing/

silverbranch.co.ukTTRPG editingHi, I'm Tim Gray. I provide freelance editing and proofreading for roleplaying game publishers, large and small, to make your work its best.

And now I’m thinking again that the supplement for Moon Roads, A Hand of Magicians, probably has a better title than the corebook and maybe I should change it. Hope this tea shuts my brain up shortly.

Accidentally watched part of a New York By Night episode. Notable the power of charismatic people plus good presentation. I watched some/most of season 1 ages back. Don’t remember where I got to or what was going on. I occasionally watch the titles for modern magic inspiration.

Spent today at #Orbtoberfest, a small rpg convention here in Nottingham, linked to The Dark Orb YT channel. Missed last year, so good to rejoin. Played Vaesen (the starter set adventure) and Hard City (an adv with a bit of supernatural added).

… Systemmonkily, I was curious about the HC rules having seen positive reviews. It’s good, I think - very much aimed at characters on a limited human scale. Small d6 dice pool, take highest, interpret. Negative/dangerous factors give dice that can match and eat your results - a form of drag.

There are TWO new books coming for #CoriolisTheGreatDark Across the Abyss - an explorer themed campaign where they have drawn inspiration from The Terror, among other things, written by Gareth Hanrahan! Free Leauge are very pleased with his work. The Dying City is a source book about Ship City.
