Audio quality. Even my kids’ Yoto players have incredibly detailed sound compared to what I grew up with in the 90s. My B&O Bluetooth speaker has more bass extension than my first studio monitors.

Possibly the greatest invention of all time - the Cheese Belt (think of a Sushi Belt but with cheese & charcuterie) alongside a nice red wine flight selection down at Blacks Corner at Culture House Sunderland . A lovely way to spend a Thursday afternoon.

Been going down the Khruangbin et al rabbithole the last few days - great autumn music. Got a bit of Dire Straits Communique deja vu, stuck it on and wow there's so much in common. Weird how packaging & context does as much to make things 'modern' as the substance.

Also, working on Finalist 2 while I do this so very tuned into tonal and dynamic balance and timbre. One thing that HAS changed is back then we were avoiding harmonic distortion like the plague. Now we're chasing it like a hot date.

I really wish we could start seeing this for what is helpful - a pathology to be cured / mitigated / guarded against. Not what is unhelpful - as something to be avenged. Much as the woke mind virus narrative boils my piss, mind viruses as a concept is on to something.

A cautionary tale for the world, here: deliberately malicious politicians make everything worse and more horrifying, then they turn the consequences of their malice into a new opportunity for their friends in the tech sector to take more public money for providing more murderbots.
