Wait, so now we WANT Latin America to send us their criminals?

NEWS: The U.S. State Department says it will give U.S. visas to defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and his family who have fled Brazil after Bolsonaro's loss

Anyone surprised by this has never had to schedule a makeup exam

Reuters@reuters.com

Upon hearing he had won the Nobel Prize for economics, US academic Michael Woodford stayed on the job as an economics professor at Columbia University and continued on with a scheduled exam. reut.rs/4jRRIK2

Huh- a holiday to make it easier to vote. Seems reasonable to me

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has directed a one-day military-wide stand-down in October to allow troops to send a mail-in ballot or vote in person, saying he was designated by the president to ensure that military votes are counted in the upcoming election.

I think @pbump.com would be able to comment on the amount of practice he’s managed to squeeze in since 1/20/25

Trump: “The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to all of those who participated. I won with a 70, & am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, bc I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it”

I like capitalism. It’s helped me a lot over the years. But it’s interesting that the course description mentions how capitalism helps millions of people every year, on a planet with over 8 billion people.

Quick question- who’s the brave person here?

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

What a picture from cheney orr of @reuters.com — a Black woman on a train surrounded by masked white supremacists, emboldened in Trump’s America. One for the history books.

Honest question- can anyone remember the last claim for which the President provided evidence?

NPR@npr.org

The president posted on Truth Social claiming vandals slashed the pool's lining and poured chemicals into the water, saying arrests have been made. He provided no evidence for his claims.

Thousands and thousands of children replaced every year by fairy changelings, but the system wants to tell you it doesn’t happen because you can’t prove it

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rep. Claudia Tenney: "There are thousands and thousands of cases of people voting in the wrong place, at the wrong time. This happens all the time. But the Democrats want to tell you it doesn't happen because you can't prove it."

It would be an awful shame if the warnings about tornadic activity and lightning were to threaten that giant metal structure on the WH lawn.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

Fighters, promoters and television streamers all stand to gain from the UFC bout that President Trump is hosting on the South Lawn of the White House on Sunday. As a small investor in TKO Group Holdings, UFC’s parent company, the president could benefit as well.

I’m useless here, since both of Virginia’s senators are Democrats. (And smart.). Do what you can if you have a Republican senator or two.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

Todd Blanche cannot be Attorney General. The Senate must oppose his nomination. If you’re with me on this, please contact your senator’s office and tell them to vote NO on confirming Blanche. The Senate switchboard is (202) 224-3121.

It’s ok there are ways to earn money I can’t take advantage of, because of my knowledge or skills. But I don’t get why it’s unfair to keep just 1% of my money, after giving the rest to my country in taxes, while I stay financially secure. (1% of a billion is 10,000,000). I could live on that

I’ve finally figured out that we are now living in a game of Sim City, with the player updating the White House, building a new Arch, updating public resources and building a new promenade. I’m an NPC waving a sign

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

The Kennedy Center ordered employees to remove President Trump’s name from the performing arts venue, strip all references from signs, brochures, the website and other materials — and to update email signatures and letterhead immediately.

“That isn’t a Six Flags roller coaster rising above the White House.” is not a post I was prepared to see, elderly curmudgeon that I am

The Boston Globe@bostonglobe.com

That isn’t a Six Flags roller coaster rising above the White House. Construction has begun for the UFC Freedom 250 ring ahead of the event in June, which is taking place on the same day as President Trump's 80th birthday.

I’m not sure whether this is Dunning-Krueger, or something adjacent

Trump: "I'm the only president to take a cognitive test because I don't think Obama could pass it, I don't."
