🖋️ “Reinstate FDA staffing to safeguard U.S. food supply” hit 3,000 signers! 💬 Text SIGN PGLECC to 50409

resist.botReinstate FDA staffing to safeguard U.S. food supplyText SIGN PGLECC to 50409 — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a critical agency responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of our food supply. Recent staffing cuts of up to 20,000 employees have severely undermined the FDA's ability to carry out its vital mission. Key quality control programs have been suspended, leaving the agency unable to conduct essential testing for foodborne pathogens like Cyclospora in spinach, contaminants like the pesticide glyphosate in barley, and other hazards that put American lives at risk. In the past, the FDA has played a crucial role in safeguarding public health by preventing issues like widespread Salmonella outbreaks in peanut butter, E. coli contamination in romaine lettuce, and melamine adulteration in infant formula. This dereliction of duty is unacceptable. The FDA's lapse in oversight jeopardizes public health and safety on a massive scale. Foodborne illnesses already sicken millions and kill thousands in the United States each year. With its resources gutted, the FDA can no longer adequately safeguard the integrity of our food system or rapidly detect and respond to contamination events. Americans deserve better protection. Immediate action must be taken to fully reinstate the FDA's workforce and restore its inspection, testing, and quality assurance capabilities to protect the nation's food supply. Robust funding and staffing of this vital public health agency should be an utmost priority to fulfill the government's fundamental obligation to protect its citizens. The consequences of inaction are too severe. I urgently call on Congress to take the necessary steps to ensure the FDA can comprehensively carry out its lifesaving work without further compromise.

I've been watching 911 with my daughter for the past 2 episodes to offer her support. The leaks that were posted last month worried her. She started binge-watching the show during winter break and got really invested. #911onABC

My story breaking this news exclusively was 7K+ words and had almost all of this in it, and more: www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...

npr.orgA whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor dataA whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.
Matt Johansen@mattjay.com

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read. He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

Here's the Bluesky post. This is incredible. Now the goal will be to get him home. And I want to hear what Senator Van Hollen learned from him. What this shows is that Bukele is very much susceptible to pressure. Now we can't forget about the other 237 people sent there on March 15.

Senator Chris Van Hollen@vanhollen.senate.gov

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Isn't that always his shtick? He deflects, states he doesn't know anting about what they're asking, then points to someone that he can blame & have them take the call for it.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

REPORTER: If a court holds you in contempt, you will take steps to return Abrego Garcia & put him in front of a judge? TRUMP: Well I'm not involved in it. I'm gonna respond by saying you'll have to speak to the lawyers. I've heard many things about him, and we'll have to find out what the truth is

🖋️ “Stop the SAVE Act!” hit 1,000 signers! 💬 Text SIGN PJQYGB to 50409

resist.botStop the SAVE Act!Text SIGN PJQYGB to 50409 — As your constituent, I strongly urge you to oppose the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The SAVE Act would place the burden on every single American citizen to prove their citizenship when registering to vote or updating their voter registration, chiefly by presenting either a passport or a birth certificate in person. This bill represents a dangerous dereliction of your duty as a member of Congress to safeguard free and fair elections and ensure accessible voting for all U.S. citizens—including your own constituents. Under 18 U.S.C. § 1015, it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections, and those that break the law can face up to five years in prison. Americans already attest to their citizenship status when registering to vote, and election officials verify their eligibility using federal and state data, including citizenship data from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Americans also must already provide their driver’s license number or the last four digits of their social security number when registering to vote. Instead of the government doing its job, the SAVE Act would put the burden on every single American citizen to prove that they can exercise their constitutional right to vote. More than 140 million U.S. citizens do not possess a passport, and 69 million women who took their spouse’s last name upon marriage would not be able to use their birth certificate to prove their identity. Rural and working class Americans are less likely to have a passport. The SAVE Act endangers the constitutional rights of all Americans. We deserve better than irresponsibly thought out legislation, and we expect more from Congress. I urge you to vote no on the SAVE Act.

I spoke to a South Carolina woman today who is miscarrying - her fetus has no heartbeat - but the state's ban is preventing doctors from taking action. She has to walk around with a dead fetus for another week so she can get a FOURTH ultrasound. This is what bans do.

🖋️ “Congressional appropriations ARE THE LAW. Stop Trump's illegal Ukraine aid block” hit 500 signers! Text PCPZFB to 50409

resist.botCongressional appropriations ARE THE LAW. Stop Trump's illegal Ukraine aid blockText SIGN PCPZFB to 50409 — News has broken that: " Donald Trump has decided to pause all future deliveries of U.S. military assistance to Ukraine"-- this is to pressure Zelenskyy. Congress appropriates. Appropriations are LAWS. Yes, CONGRESSIONAL APPROPRIATIONS are the law. And no one is above the law. If you permit Trump to block the appropriations Congress legislated for Ukraine, you might as well never turn up to vote on a bill again. If you permit the president to overturn congressionally appropriated funds YOU are complicit in enabling a dictatorship. You can't leave this to the courts. Do not allow any regular business until Congress's power is recognised by the president. That means: no unanimous consent in the senate. No confirming nominees. No debt ceiling raise in the house. No more appropriations. No funding a rogue regime. NO presidential address. Trump wants to block aid to Ukraine to give aid and succour to our foe Putin and to coerce Ukraine. That's a disgrace. I hear members of Congress are incensed about his betrayal of Ukraine. If you fail to act and do not insist Ukraine getting what was previously appropriated you will not only betray Ukraine, you will also be complicit in the creation of a dictatorship. Please reply to let me know the measures you will take to preserve the rule of law and constitutional order. Please speak out publicly to condemn this tyrannical executive overreach.
