Coming soon... discover how to bring even more devices into Home Assistant on Wednesday, November 11. Watch this space for details!

Alright, I held my nose and voted for Laura Gillen again. Would love to someday have a better option, but when nobody can get enough signatures to even make it onto the primary ballot against her it doesn't leave me hopeful...

I MAY HAVE UNDERSTATED THINGS SLIGHTLY

Today was a good reminder that the random webapp I built using PHP 15 years ago needs to be updated again. Apparently its VM was still on Ubuntu 22, so it's been a minute.

I will say, that streak got reeeeally close to breaking today after I'd already posted this

Something I realized/remembered this weekend playing around with some side projects: I really like writing code. Someone should make a job where I get to do that. Or I guess writing planning documents and prompts for AIs, that's cool too.

Devoting your social time to platforms where you control your own account and your own data, is the only real long term solution to hating billionaires controlling their own platforms.

I am now realizing there is a path to the absolute funniest World Series moment in all of history: Dave Roberts leaving Blake Snell in too long against the Rays in Game 6 and blowing the series entirely

The Hyundai service center wanted to charge me $85 for a cabin air filter replacement, which takes about 5 minutes to do and costs $7. Embarrassing levels of grift.

So today I bought a decaf mocha. At what point should I stop lying to myself and just get hot chocolate?

Political ads should be forced to include what state they're talking about so I can know how much I don't care about them

Hi, I’m a sighted alt text user! Here are some reasons I use it: - Slow Internet on an airplane - I’m over 40, I have no idea who that celebrity is - Bluesky broke images again - My vision sucks and that text is too small to read otherwise - Conveys further context and authorial intent

Bluesky pals! I have a sci-fi graphic novel called DRIVE, & it's my favorite thing I've ever done! If you need a long, escapist read at the moment the entire thing is free to read, here: drivecomic.com (THIS PAGE: Emiliana)

Ryan Vilade first two AB: 2nd inning: flyout to left that would be a HR in 6 ballparks, but not Yankee Stadium 4th inning: home run to right that would only be a HR at Yankee Stadium BASE BALL

I'm not sure there's a dude on the Yankees who I want to love more than Anthony Volpe, especially when compared to how he's played

I bet this would be hilarious if I knew more things

There's so much talk about the B-ring in this game it feels like we're 13 letters from watching Richard Feynman drop rubber in a glass of ice water

Was randomly reminded today of how much I love the intertwining countermelodies in Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. My Eyes is such cool songwriting!

I'm not 100% sure countermelodies is the right word, tbh. There's two separate singers who diverge and then overlap again for certain words with contrasting meanings between the two. I'm sure there's a much better musical to reference that's the actual canonical example of this sort of thing!

Sometimes baseball folks on here are responding to an actual interesting conversation (or even an *annoying* interesting one) about analytics, but sometimes it's obvious they're just still looking at Twitter a lot, and I'd invite them to stop doing that, or at least, stopping make it my problem?

I missed this announcement (benefit of already being a member, I suppose). I've always considered one reason to be a member is to keep the coverage free for people who can't afford it, but I get it if one membership no longer covers that. Happy to gift a month to anybody who's locked out now, DM me!
