If I could get an AI that switched to something else whenever it detected, in a video my son is watching, someone screaming so that their microphone clips or peaks then I would be fully on board with this new tech.

I never understand when people get incensed when giant corps fire people who make good things. Is it news to people that companies are amoral immortal entities optimizing for growth at any cost? Essentially economy facsimile of cancer. They do what society created them to do.

The new #Formula1 regulations are a joke. "50% battery". Except its charged by the combustion engine in convoluted ways (that ruin racing), meaning it uses MORE fuel than straight combustion. Its a charade to appease car manufacturers that want to appear forward thinking.

I've been told, and it works, that to get a song out of your head, just listen to it. Its your brain fixated on something it cant fully remember so it helps it let go. But i don't WANT to have to listen to Outcasts' "Roses"! My algorithm will be fucked up!

My favourite game of all time. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. The true OG 'modern-era' console FPS.. when CoD was still in the 1940's. 24 players on PS2, Xbox & X360. Here are some renders from the fan favourite map 'Backstab' on PS2 upscaled via PCSX2.

The multiplayer in this game was completely inaccessible after the GameSpy shutdown in 2014. We were able to get the multiplayer servers working again 2023 and built a bespoke GameSpy replacement backend to support it. Full Stat tracking too! If you want to play then check out: bf2mc.com

Trying to find all the tricks of the trade for pixel art character animation. Currently using aseprite and just... getting it done. Blocking out an animation isn't a huge issue. But getting every frame shaded, consistent, proportional is another matter. I'm in awe of everybody who is good at this.

I adore Claire Obscure: Expedition 33. But this mythmaking about how few they were (not once you count musicians, outsourcing, localisation etc) and how cheap it was to make is dangerous. There are lessons to learn, but it shouldn't be "oh we can tighten budgets now and win Game of tge Year"....

So please. Its not a big gotcha to AAA giants that these talented people managed to make that game in that time. Its being used, behind the scenes, as leverage to demand understaffed teams deliver outsized efforts with tight budgets. To scale down QC, design and art.

The word is that it cost 10 million to make. But just the licence fee of unreal, given publicly available sales, would be somewhere in the region of 6.5 million. And cursory math would not permit good salaries for 6 years with the rest. A startup often has to skimp and save.

Can't decide if it's a big mistake or the greatest troll ever to have adopted the word Antifa for being Anti Fascist. On the one hand it gives the fascist a shorthand with which to demonize as if it was an organization. On the other hand it does make the fascists look silly to us normal folk.

This will not mean anything except to the motorycling few among you. I took a ride on my triumph just for the sake of it - beautiful fall day - to my local bike shop and what do you know? A pair of Daytona Road Star GTX, my size, for less than half price in the bargain corner. Dream boots achieved.

Oh no! They started not even labeling it as AI anymore, trying to soften it with "Synthart" and "Synthography" to make it sound more acceptable and housebroken. (Also using the hashtag Illustration is an insult to people who are actual trained illustrators)

Oh no! The remix machine can be sued the people who made the stuff it stole and remixes. What .. ever.. shall.. we.. do?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is the epitomy of understanding the brief. The right balance of cheese to serious, of message and light entertainment, of character building and status quo maintainence. Swashbuckling and sofistication. Deft writing. Imperfections and winks to the audience. Love it.

As a parent, how do I look my kids in the eye to explain to them - apologize to them about - that we made AI to replace human expressions of art, knowledge, music and writing? That they will be the first generation to grow up not feeling a human connection when they hear a song or see a picture?
