Now that they’ve hired banner and a new head scout Mike Elias is only in charge of spending $75 on Tyler O’Neill

The most interesting thing that’s sticking with me from the Jared Banner press conference today is Mike Elias saying Jared will handle internal players, internal coaches, player development, performance and healthcare. Elias: “I think he's better than I am in those areas.”

it’s cheaper than buying season tickets every year until your team makes it to guarantee access and I know Wisconsinites are all drunks but paying $1000 10 years ago for a World Series ticket that doesn’t even cost that much now seems dumb as hell

Who would’ve predicted this? (anyone paying attention to how bramble acted in reservoir hill or Northwood plaza: the next step is scaling back and increasing private parking)

noting that the whole tanking process was only amenable to enough of the fanbase because they thought they were gonna get an Astros like dynasty The exchange doesn't work if you're gonna tread water at 75-80 wins and sell at the deadline every year

Responded to a comment on our site that I’ll share here because I don’t really think I addressed this piece in the column. For a baseball franchise, being able to win playoff games matters so, so much. Orioles fans have seen way too little of it for like … 30-some years.

SF transit take: -MUNI metro is what the red line should be -van ness brt is what mdot wants (ass) -the F streetcar that Dan Rodricks is salivating over is what MCB wants (ass, go downstairs and ride the muni- half the time for the same route) -BART is what people driving anyway say they want

offseason needs: 1. Ace (like every year of the Elias tenure except when he got Corbin burnes and Bradish got hurt, so instead opted not to have a # 2 starter) 2. Catcher (Basallo catching a max 80 games) 3. Left fielder 4. Mid rotation starter 5. Like 3-4 bullpen guys, at least one really good

The infield should probably look like: 2B Westburg SS Henderson 3B Mayo Blaze is the utility guy playing 5 days a week with Mayo getting some DH time and RF workouts to replace O’Neill, Holliday is basically the Jeremiah Jackson role now

As Jim Smith (UMD athletic director/ former Braves exec) puts it, “we’ve gotta squeeze the middle” and figure out how to get the people buying average ticket prices to spend more

It would probably take Pete having a Freddie Freeman like uptick in his 30s to make the HoF (and he’s already behind bc he came up later) but i keep thinking about what to do with guys who are missing like, 5 war and 40 homers because of the covid season

This is “fire me already” behavior

The ending to the Orioles’ 9-5 loss to the Cleveland Guardians included the departure of shortstop Gunnar Henderson and catcher Carlos Narváez playing second base for the first time in his professional career. www.thebanner.com/sports/oriol...
