Sweden will switch from mRNA COVID vaccines to Novavax (protein-based vaccine) in 2027/28. According to Sanofi, Sweden will be the first country in the world to make this exclusive switch. Officials also plan to lift restrictions for under-30s after reassessing concerns about heart inflammation.

I was delighted to give a speech written by a young constituent on the impacts of the cost of living on young people. This was part of the Raise our Voice in Parliament campaign which reminds us of the importance of giving young people a voice in our debates #auspol #politas

It is 40 years since the warnings began to break through. And what do we have? Fantasies about "adapting" to 3 degrees. We have allowed the worst of us to condemn all of us (and the other species we "share" this planet with) to unimaginable suffering. Homo "sapiens" my very fat arse.

Yesterday (Oct. 26) marked the 150th consecutive day that the Niño 3.4 sea surface temperature set a new record daily high, at 30.22°C (preliminary). This was more than 1.13°C above the previous record daily high set in 2015, as well as a record 3.49°C above the 1991-2020 baseline.

Spooky! It now looks like the 4-year running mean for the global surface temperature anomaly will reach 1.500°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline on October 28th. The Climate 8-Ball will be dressing like a 9-Ball for Halloween. Stay tuned!

I apologize for not being on top of this landmark crossing, but the global sea-surface temperature is once again in "gobsmackingly bananas" territory. The Climate 8-Ball says: uncharted territory dead ahead!

Breaking News! Code: y-Axis Alert! Yesterday's Nino 3.4 preliminary sea-surface temperature anomaly set a new record high, at 3.48°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. To clearly show this anomaly, the y-axis max was raised to 4.0°C. Attention historians: this is gobsmackingly bananas.

Exceeding 1.5°C of warming is now unavoidable. But how much further temperatures rise depends on how quickly we cut emissions. The new #EmissionsGap Report shows how deep those cuts must be to limit warming and make a return to 1.5°C possible. Explore the findings: https://ow.ly/voCP51002C2

"The “statistial significance” of this model is overwhelming, i.e. we can resoundingly reject the hypothesis that global average SST has warmed at the same rate for the last several decades. It’s a lot faster now (about 0.3°C/dec) than it was before 2012 (less than 0.1°C/dec)."
