Bloomberg - ya gotta stop. Every time you sing the praises of @mark-carney.bsky.social <Russel Peters voice> Someone's feelings get hurt, and gonna get tariffed real bad.

@justinwolfers.bsky.social The "shoe maker" analogy doesn't fit the AI narrative for me. I think there are more lessons to be learned from how the Longshoremen handled the move to shipping containers. Now 1/10 of what they were, but they had the power to negotiate a financial pact for their members.
Carney’s defence of Lake Ontario carries enormous weight @niigaanwewidam.bsky.social I hope he did! www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/2026/0...
@chapmans.ca more reasons to love Chapman's ! www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Listening to @mark-carney.bsky.social I think this shows Canadian values. Reporter: "hard question" Mark: "Thanks for that", followed by a well informed response. Compare that to others...

@mark-carney.bsky.social Why did the Canadian Federal gov't stop its social housing efforts, in contrast to France, Austria, etc.? Transferring it the provinces was a disaster - So when you look at purchasing condos, why not re-institute our social housing program, and re-join the EU's approach?
@mark-carney.bsky.social Please acknowledge Dr. Shiv Chopra (1933-11-21 : 2018-01-07) A great example of immigrants contributing their skills, integrity and passion to the benefit of all Canadians. Echos your declaration "Canada has given me everything—I am ready to give everything for Canada"
Good chuckle, and made me laugh again at a theme discussed at the last #ATmosphereConf youtu.be/T4Upf_B9RLQ
@mark-carney.bsky.social I applaud who you have selected to represent us and all Canadians. Fri in a show of support for the Arctic island, Canadian FM Anita Anand will inaugurate the diplomatic mission in the capital, Nuuk, accompanied by a delegation of Canadian Inuit.
Norway learned how to structure and create their sovereign fund in Canada. Using the same oil economy and in harder conditions www.cnbc.com/2026/01/29/n... What happened in Canada to lose our way? @mark-carney.bsky.social can we navigate back in that direction, or is that moment lost
@mcuban.bsky.social Why don't you replicate how Canada started its UHC? Pick a state, maybe partner with @gavinnewsom.bsky.social, as they already have a lot of programs. Consolidate that to a basic HC plan.
@gandersocial.bsky.social how is this different than say blacksky? And if it feeds into the larger social fabric, how is it private?
@mcuban.bsky.social wrt your healthcare question, I'd point you to Wellmark Iowa. A well run Blues, committed staff, focused on delivery of services. They have a profit cap, and could easily run the administrative side of HC for the state.
@swardley.bsky.social this seems like a very visible shift. While China plays go, and everyone else is struggling with checkers, everyone is having to travel east to ensure that they keep those essential supply chains running. That's a big visual.
Congratulations #byd Utterly amazing youtu.be/ewf-q-U_b9A?...
@mark-carney.bsky.social @davidebybc.bsky.social With the infrastructure investments coming, would it make sense to build a refinery or add capacity to the existing ones? At best it'll still take a couple of decades to complete the transition to all electric dailyhive.com/vancouver/va...
www.w3.org/TR/vc-data-m... where I can just apply my proof of age, would be helpful. Most places won't have that though, and countries applying those laws won't instantiate a Person Credential and system to support that.
To be clear: this is yet another reason why many of these laws are so problematic. If people want to run fediverse instances of any size, the fact that costly age verification requirements could put them in legal jeopardy, is very bad. Regulators make laws as if every website is Facebook.
@mark-carney.bsky.social why not ask BYD to build in Canada/Mexico using our current workforce? I'd buy one of those made here for sure. @bydglobal.bsky.social BYD - the #elbowsup edition.

@mark-carney.bsky.social I hope Canada will support Canadian Universities with open invitations to those caught up in the US bans. We have some amazing, world class, universities here. This would benefit all of Canada in the long term.

youtu.be/Vn3Xev0ytfE Gee, how do those other countries get those rates? Our gov't run health insurance, negotiates using their large purse, we also don't have legislation blocking that negotiation. Tell the truth y'all
Interesting youtu.be/0jfYSncSTEY?... The wealth creation of globalization went to a small set in wall street. If the backlash is about the wealth distribution, then the current answer of providing more open tax breaks to that group, which doesn't force local investment, seems pretty dumb to me
I know I shouldn't, but as I sit in a restaurant in Victoria waiting for my wife, the young couple at the next table is excited. Since @mark-carney.bsky.social won, mom is going to buy that condo to be closer to us. If it went differently, she would've waited. Elections have consequences! Good ones!
