Of course: In the NYT, a "mean" lady boss is a bigger story than a powerful man who is a rapist.

Dolores Huerta. She did all one could possibly do to make the world better.

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Dolores Huerta, United Farmworkers co-founder and civil rights icon, has died, her family says.

This is bigger than Ramaswamy, who will lose. This is the "perfect victim" issue. Every woman ever who says she was raped gets blowback, that she's lying or at fault or both. Even if she was a child, even if there's a criminal conviction. And that's what this is about.

Amy Acton's stepfather's surviving biological daughter spoke to The Daily Mail when they knocked on her door in Ohio, while sobbing. She said: She believed Amy's story, because her father raped her sister more than once /

Hegseth knows he'll be impeached. He also probably realizes that there are several GOP Sens that will vote for him. The easiest way to distance from Trump with minimal anti-Trump fallout is to blame Hegseth for the failed war.

Pete Hegseth knows he facing likely impeachment after the midterms. Puck’s Leigh Ann Caldwell recently reported he's angling for Marsha Blackburn to appoint him to her Senate seat if she wins Tennessee’s governor’s race.

This is a fine and critical distinction. Cassidy Hutchinson's sworn testimony took the form, X told me the story Y. We don't know if Y is true. It's disputed. But that's not dispositive ... her testimony was that X told her Y. She's not a witness to Y. 1/

Lindsay Beyerstein@beyerstein.bsky.social

This was an even dumber revenge prosecution than James Comey's seashell case. Hutchison testified that someone told her that Trump tried to grab the wheel. That account could well be true. But even if it was wrong, it wasn't perjury to relay what she was told.

So the defence writes itself. If the source says, "I never told her that, and it didn't happen," but she says, "yes they fucking did say that," it's one person's word against another's, and the fact that crossing Trump gets you death threats and prosecution ... 4/

means that it's very easy to believe that the source is lying to stay out of trouble, having told a story that crossed a powerful and revenge-obsessed President. A responsible prosecutor would never have brought this case, on the merits, because it's almost impossible to get a conviction. /end

If Y is true, she could still be guilty, if X never told her that -- though either it would have to be a wild coincidence, or she'd have to be covering for her real source. But! 2/

If Y is false, she could still be not guilty! If Y was a made-up or exaggerated story, but the witness relayed it faithfully, SHE HAS TOLD THE TRUTH. Now, remember that it's proof beyond a reasonable doubt, not by preponderance. 3/

Predictions about who can't get the 2028 nomination at this time make some sense. Predictions about who can ... don't. Before 2016 it looked like Jeb's to lose, unless Walker outperformed which he didn't. Carter and Clinton both came out of nowhere.

Harris's anti-impeachment statements (1) prove that her haste to make common cause with Republicans was no fluke (2) that the "Kamala's a cop" left were correct; and (3) means she cannot win a nomination again. That's the end of that.

Exactly! Where is the Republican outrage over #DickPics now that the accused is one of theirs? And this one is an actual candidate, not the spouse of an aide.

The one constant is that Trump hands the fossil fuel industry EVERYTHING it wants. Venezuela's government. End to sanctions. Environmental and safety law amnesty. Iran war to constrain supply and spike prices. Every single thing. As he promised, when they funded his 2024 campaign.

Aaron Weiss (no relation)@aweiss.bsky.social

Today's methane announcement from Trump shows why the Senate permitting bill is so terribly written. It would lock in every single environmental rollback Trump can cram into the next two years. 🧵: 1/

One of the unspoken policy imperatives is "keep Scotland in the Union until the fossil fuels are gone." Some want that just for the money, others think that without the revenue stream, Scotland can never leave.

Xander@xanderelliards.bsky.social

Hugely important details for Scotland in the OBR forecasts ... North Sea tax revenues projected to be 'close to zero' in five years, windfall tax expected to last 2 years longer than planned, and oil and gas output to fall 10% a year even with Rosebank www.thenational.scot/news/2667792...

Something in the media hard-coding flags "Trump raped someone else in the '90s" as "not news" whereas a politician says a maybe-out-of-touch thing is always news.

This seems a bit concerning. The Pentagon is seeking emergency authorization to deploy Wafermine — a fast-dissolving, sublingual ketamine wafer — as a non-opioid battlefield painkiller for our troops. The manufacturer is pursuing an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the FDA.

Trump's strongest attachment in the second Regime is to producing profits for US oil companies. He literally told them to fund his campaign and he'd make them a fortune, and he admitted on the campaign trial that it worked. He would sell Ukraine to Putin in exchange for drilling rights.

It occurs to me that Trump's obsessive hatred of Kennedy may be inherited from the Nixon hands he's surrounded himself with: Roy Cohn, who was Nixon's attack dog before '60, and later Roger Stone, who has Nixon's face tattooed on his back.

If you're a Bibi hater (and I am), this is really bad news. There can be no stable change coalition at these numbers. Eisenkot's bloc can make an agreement with Ra'am but it's not enough and can't with the Arab List. Bibi might not get to 61 but can at least force a new election.

This is someone so attached to her cult that she'll deny the Ukraine war is happening. Like, Trump himself said he would end it, but it's now convenient for his supporters to just deny it actually happened.

A large percentage of the American population has fallen into an all-encompassing rabbit hole of Russian disinformation, an alternate reality, designed to keep the U.S paralyzed as a Russian-backed anti-democracy movement advances globally. A woman explains that there's no war in Ukraine.
