There’s a “quiet revolution” happening in states like Montana that could finally rid our elections of dark money. Former Sen. Jon Tester explains for @theprogressivemag.bsky.social: tinyurl.com/y52azk9v
One would like to think that having the most morally bereft person in America as your standard-bearer would hurt your party with Christians at some point.

"States create corporations, and they give them all their powers." @americanprogress.bsky.social Senior Fellow @thmoore.bsky.social speaks with Patti Vasquez about how states' laws created corporate power and how they can reclaim it.

“Can the States Stop the Corporate Domination of Our Politics?” Excellent deep dive by James Baratta in The American Prospect on how CAP’s Corporate Power Reset is getting dark and corporate money out of America’s politics.
By the time this year’s primary season was winding down, corporations had already shelled out more than half a billion dollars in support of congressional candidates. prospect.org?p=145115

We need to get dark and corporate money out of our politics. Read more from CAP's @thmoore.bsky.social: https://nyti.ms/4xAi4Du
Can confirm. Just last week, I heard a person whom I believe to be a Russian asset offer $5,000 to voters if Republicans won the midterms.
Heads up: The Russian government has been targeting Americans with covert online disinformation operations seeking to undermine public confidence the midterms — using a familiar playbook in an attempt to inject chaos into the voting season, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
Clear the room. No other journalistic outlet should set foot in the White House until this is reversed. Appeasement, and I use that word carefully, will not deter Trump.
Trump: "I am proud to announce that, effective immediately, I am banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW, and Politico ... from the White House as a result of their constant 'reporting' FAKE NEWS!"

If I were still in the wh press pool, it would be such a no brainer (tho it’s not like I ever was granted decision making power): no one go until this is lifted and if you do, you are no longer a member of the WHCA
President Donald Trump, in a clear violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, says he is banning MSNOW, CNN and Politico from the White House.

I'm very, very pleased that The New York Times has written such a positive article about the project I've been working on.

Terrific Reuters story today on the movement to undo Citizens United through state corporation law.
🎂 A year ago, the Corporate Power Reset, CAP's legal strategy to undo Citizens United, was just an idea. Today, it's the law in Hawaii, Montana voters are likely to pass it in November, and it'll be on the move in 30+ states next year. 🎂 Read about it here: www.americanprogress.org/series/the-c...

Great to join @katieleebarlow.bsky.social to discuss the @brennancenter.org’s recent report on the barrage of threats that federal judges and their families are facing at a time of democracy under strain. District court judges in particular are on the front lines of upholding our Constitution.
Our election systems are transparent and secure. You know who knows? My CAP (@americanprogress.bsky.social) colleague Ben Hovland, who monitored the 2020 & 2024 elections firsthand. So make sure you’re registered to vote! Ben writes in @usatoday.com: tinyurl.com/66znszj5
Me in the ABA’s Human Rights magazine: "Every state has always held the power to keep corporations out of its politics. Hawaii and Montana are the first in a century to use it, but they're likely not the last."
I’m deeply honored to be published in the ABA’s Human Rights magazine in its issue on “The Right to Vote in Free and Fair Elections.”

This MO Sup Ct opinion is a big deal. Completely invalidates all of the congressional primaries, undoes the mid-decade map, and puts the blame squarely (and unanimously) on SOS Hoskins. (Per state law, the parties will probably just pick the primary winners to be on the general election ballot.)
Ugh, Apple folded. Acutely disappointing. I’ve admired Tim Cook for a long time for a lot of reasons, but he has failed this late test of leadership.
Don’t fold, Apple. Abetting Trump’s little hissy fit against America’s closest ally is weak. It will come back to bite you hard. Apple will be around long after this petty tyrant is gone. Act like it.
