Now of course the Embedded Catalog reflects our current neural network/transformer environment. I don’t think one replaces the other, just layers being applied to existing systems that will continue to grow and evolve.

There are visualizations that show the catalog organized by embeddings + LCC and communities, timelapses by date cataloged and published as well as how embeddings can be used to compare the Library’s catalog to completely different knowledge systems like English Wikipedia.

I’m continually fascinated with the library catalog, a metadata aggregation that required many lifetimes of person-hours to build. It is the lens I use when I think of how the library could experience changes in technology and knowledge organization.

I was like 😮‍💨 I don't use php, but then remembered our wikibase... I already did these recommendations github.com/wmde/wikibas... But also - disabled multipart bodies uploads in nginx - container memory cap - disabled quickstatments, which is a separate php app even tho its packaged with wb suite

Walked by this door a hundred times going to Pratt Institute and never knew.

Browsing the paper marbles in U of Washington Libraries Decorated Paper Collection I was thinking about how latent space could be used to organize and categories. I built a paper marble GAN to try to explore: Blog: thisismattmiller.com/post/paper-m... Explorer: paper-marble.thisismattmiller.cloud

Huge shoutout to @dan-sinnamon.bsky.social & his BookReconciler colleague @mellymeldubs.bsky.social for speaking about their really cool, innovative work today to a group of metadata ppl I assembled. It’s nice to have supportive colleagues! DH, librarianship, & bibliography all benefit from talking
