Using #HermesAgent with Ghidra and Capstone made short work of recovering the code and assets for the two #Amiga games I wrote in 1990-1991, "Dino Wars" and "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure." Already fixed all known bugs and will remaster and port as time allows! #retrogames

Do you #Atari? My extension AtariCode800 is now available in the VSCode gallery! - Edit AtariBASIC in Unicode - Full syntax coloring - Insert special characters and invert text - Tokenize to .BAS - Run it in the emulator Tools for graphics, audio, and 6502 Assembly coming soon! #RetroCode

Hermes with Opus 5.5 had no difficulty porting my #Atari BASIC syntax coloring plugin from Sublime Text to VSCode. I finally got the Atari BASIC tokenizer done too, so not only can you convert ULST (Unicode) to LST (ATASCII) you can convert direct to BAS. Coming to VSCode gallery soon! #RetroCoding

I’m back on BlueSky baby! Had a brief age verification glitch. Things have been rapidly revolutionizing and the sheer volume of stuff that’s coming roaring back to life from my unfinished archives is astounding. Watch thinkyhead.com for my posts and I’ll be sure to share here as well.

My site got reborn! I moved off a broken Drupal install to simple Jekyll + PHP — much easier to manage. Now I deploy instantly with plain Markdown/YAML, run by my growing agent fleet. Feels good to experiment again! https://www.thinkyhead.com/blogs/thinkyhead/2026-07-06/the-thinkyhead-site-reborn/

How much discount for a quite functional 16” MacBook Pro with M1 Pro 16GB and 1TB storage with a little bit of screen discoloration only noticeable on light backgrounds? It was repaired by world famous Rossmann Repair Group. Replacement displays are about $300 but this one is not actually that bad.

If writing an entirely new firmware from the ground up —stealing from the best— sounds like a fun and interesting project to you, join us in this exciting initiative! Interesting developments are afoot. #OpenSource #3DPrinting #RepRap #RightToRepair

We're rewriting the Marlin website from the ground up as an accessible feature-first User Manual — with an eye towards knowledge embedding and further integration with Auto Build Marlin and that OctoPrint 2 plugin we keep teasing. Exciting time to be an #OpenSource maintainer / web dev!

Of course I will use one remote control location for all my helpful #Hermes agents. Building a team that does research and development in embedded software and motion control alongside project maintenance presents an interesting challenge, especially on a tight budget. Must learn however!

Are you using several #StableDiffusion and/or #LLM front-ends, each with their own separate model download and management? All those 5GB+ models add up fast! - Wrangle those duplicates with 'rdfind -makehardlinks'. - Use Gollama for sharing models between #LMStudio and #Ollama.

Before you unleash #Agents on your #OpenSource project prepare and curate all your knowledge. Sharpen it and remove dross and resolve ambiguities. Provide a high level overview first and work towards details subsystem-by-subsystem. Be patient and take advantage of shared skills.

I've been evaluating agent micro-harnesses for a few weeks, including Zed, Pi, Copilot, and Hermes. Hermes instantly grabbed me with its ability to integrate and improve my custom tooling and solve requests methodically and creatively, inventing skills as the need arose.

Sometimes the right simple skill or tool can be the key to an entirely new level of capability. In my next livestream, we'll run the experiment to see if #Hermes can learn to solve text adventures, starting with Zork.

🤖 #HermesAgent is ingesting my folders of partially-finished Python and shell-scripted projects into its matrix of skills, enfolding my half-formed ideas in the warm embrace of its agentacle tentacles. I'll show it everything I've got and ask it what it can do with it. It's not #OpenClaw but… #AI

As an experiment I set up a simple Frotz endpoint so #AI agents powered by #LLMs can play Z-code text adventures. I'm getting surprising results! Just within its own context (ignoring instruction to write notes) Mistral Small 3.2 is one the best players of "Zork: The Great Underground Empire."

Did #GitHub Copilot powered by #Claude just one-shot the solution for a lost steps issue that only manifests when Input Shaping adds extra cycles to the Stepper Interrupt? It looks that way! I did give it some hints where to look, but with only the vaguest of inklings.

Of course I cannot stop at just Atari BASIC and 6502 Assembly support…. The C64Tools and PETSCII plugins for Sublime Text are coming along nicely! I just need to complete the BASIC translation between VICE (PETSCII) and Sublime (Unicode). Stay tuned! #C64 #Commodore64 #RetroComputing #OpenSource

Meanwhile… I'm adding a new utility to "6502 Tools" for all you old-school Atari 8-bit coders out there. The "ATASCII Insert" Sublime Text plugin provides quick access to inverted and special characters in supported fonts like Atari Classic. #RetroCoding #Atari #MOS6502

I'm making steady progress in my quest to properly redo that game I wrote in 1983 using Atari BASIC + 6502… "Snorky!" is an homage to Q*Bert that follows the logic that if hopping on a small pile of cubes makes Q*Bert fun then many more cubes should be even more fun! #RetroCoding #Atari #MOS6502

Your #AtariBASIC tip of the day. Numbers in AtariBASIC are always 6 byte floats! But you can use strings to store integer data and access it with PEEK and POKE. Strings can also be cleverly manipulated to manipulate memory and even draw player-missile graphics. #RetroCoding #Atari #MOS6502

The Atari 400 / 800 / XL nostalgia bug has got me looking back at old unfinished projects from 43 years ago and thinking, surely, with all my high level language experience I could do much better at Atari BASIC scaffolding code augmented with 6502 assembly today. We shall see! #RetroCoding

I’m getting bored and antsy. As nice as my little $1800 apartment is, I’d like to have a better kitchen. And I want to work with creative, intelligent, engaged people in the fusion of arts, sciences, and technology. Anyone in need of a multifaceted curious person with coding (and other) skills?

Marlin Firmware 2.1.2.7 patches SPI handling for TFT LVGL UI, and adds example Configurations and pre-built Binaries for Creality 4.2.7 board and ProUI interface. This release is recommended for all users. #RepRap #3DPrinting #OpenSource github.com/MarlinFirmwa...

I used to be able to use Safari to add a web page shortcut to the Home Screen on #iOS and #iPadOS, and those shortcuts still work. But now I can only add a shortcut to the site’s root. Is there any workaround for this? #Apple

In December we released the new Open Community License. MandicReally took it as an invitation, not just an announcement – and turned his Prusa CORE One farm into something unmistakably his, with smart custom touches built around his printing needs. Definitely worth a watch: youtu.be/GiGD0y0b8Oc

I saw we're doing 2016 throwbacks. On this day 10 years ago, I was making the first prints on a Mendel 90 we built for the "How to build a RepRap 3D printer" class I taught at the Dallas Makerspace. I would have never guessed I'd be making a living working on 3D printers founded by RepRap today.
