Kin and Quarry by @thefoxknocks.com, an incremental mining game, is out now! [PC] The magical essence of your sacred Evertree has been stolen and buried deep underground. As the land's steward, guide your people to dig deep to save it. #indiegame

Checked in on Twitter out of curiosity. Yep, still have the blue checkmark. I paid for it for one month for advertising purposes then blocked them from charging my card ever again because I couldn't find out how to cancel. It's apparently coded so badly that I now just get to have it for free.

I challenge all game devs to play their games at default settings with 100% Windows Volume. If it's too loud, you now understand what people suffer when they open your game for the first time so please for the love of everything, start with your game volume being low by default instead.

PSA: Nomad Idle will never be available on mobile (Android/iOS). Some bad actors have stolen the game and uploaded. If you bought the game on mobile, leave a review saying it's a scam and reach out to Apple/Google for refund. Apple is pretty much refusing to take them down. Terrible company.

I'm starting to notice a trend of incremental games and lo-fi music. Anyone that play idle games have an opinion on this? I'm thinking it's because idle games are typically a pretty chill experience, and by nature of it being idle, you want something that's more background-sounding? Thoughts?

I don't mean to brag, but I'm genuinely stoked. Back on Trending Free on Steam and now the Demo is reaching heights I never thought I'd ever see. Been a while since I've smiled quite like this.

Being able to sometimes afford commissioning pixel art is so cool, man. I sometimes scrap up some art for skill effects and stuff and it's alright, like, it's passable, I guess. But when I throw over like $20 or something to get it redone by a professional, it's always been worth it.

A trend I've noticed with popular idle games lately is that if you actually take advantage of their "idle" aspect, you sorta ruin the experience. It's certainly been an interesting observation. The current hits are barely actually idle games. They're active games you beat in less than 48 hours.

They have idle elements. They are certainly still idle games. But they're so short-lived and the experience is so front loaded on being active that it really makes me sit back and go... are idle games in right now, or is it actually just short games in general?

Hey @wanderbot.bsky.social, first, I apologize if this is inappropriate. Please let me know! However, I was curious to know what your stance was on getting e-mails about demos. Do you think, personally, that this is excessive? I'd imagine creators like yourself get tons of e-mails already.

For the record, I opt to make these posts public in case anyone else may want to know. I hope you don't mind, but if you do, like I said, just let me know. I appreciate your feedback and insight on these topics. Thanks.

Nomad Idle will be out sometime March 2025. A demo/playtest is currently playable right now! First time making an idle game but honestly having a blast with it. If that's your jam, check it out! store.steampowered.com/app/3042190/... #indiegame #idlegame www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Er-...

@wanderbot.bsky.social Hey Wander, hypothetically speaking, let's say someone is making an idle game that's not beaten in a day or two, but also not in months/years. Somewhere in the middle, like perhaps a week or two. I've heard that content creators, in these instances, appreciate special [...]

...special builds that make going through the content a bit faster. Out of curiosity and because I really hold your opinion quite highly, do you personally prefer situations where all features are unlocked, or that you unlock those features much faster? Also, I hate to ask because you'd think I...

...would know, but have you ever gotten special builds like this? Are the devs sending you keys that aren't of the main game, but some kind of beta branch instead? I always wondered how you'd even distribute special builds like this and wondered if you had any idea. Thanks.

@itch.io Can you tell me how being featured works? I realized I shot you guys an e-mail asking to be featured, if that's even a thing, but then looked at the featured list and saw I was already there (Nomad Idle) lol. I super appreciate it, but itch is a very new place for me. Anyone else know?

Making an idle game, and my biggest concern was hitting 7k wishlists. It's a bit of a magic number. It was looking like I was barely going to make it in time for my March release. I currently have 9k wishlists, and I owe a big thanks to @wanderbot.bsky.social for making a video. Super appreciated!

Since then, some other content creators have covered the game. I have no idea if it's because of Wander, but it's so awesome, man. Hopefully it doesn't come off as weird to thank people for this kind of thing, but it's been such a relief to be where I am vs. where I was.

I was worried about messing with itch, figured I'd mess something up somehow and look stupid. Actually, the reception on itch has been incredible. For a few days, I even managed to be in the #1 spot for idle and incremental games. Turns out the itch community is awesome! Thanks @itch.io #itch

You are up to date.
