Here's the pitch: Closeted trans guy at a dead-end job, suffering burnout while living with his M@GA (or M@GA equivalent) family. His entire family thinks he's a lowlife for not having a successful career or having a husband and children. His younger, more successful sister, is getting married.

His friends have been telling him for years that he needed to leave, but it's complicated. The economy is the major factor, and he wants to be able to start his medical transition without fear of his family making his life a living hell for it. He needs to take the leap, but he's afraid.

Here's the pitch: Closeted trans guy at a dead-end job, suffering burnout while living with his M@GA (or M@GA equivalent) family. His entire family thinks he's a lowlife for not having a successful career or having a husband and children. His younger, more successful sister, is getting married.

She's *also* pregnant. So, she's living the life that this guy was supposed to have started first. But instead, he was a 30 year old recluse, in reality afraid of being in a relationship because he wants his partner to see him *as a man* regardless of how limited he is in transitioning.

I got a random story idea at work, and it’s so specific to my life in my pursuit of writing books that I’d relate to that I can’t NOT write it. Right?? 🫠

#AwesomeCharacters Characters I love to hate generally are morally ambiguous assholes or have some fun, redeeming qualities or do have lines they wouldn’t cross. Quick wit is also a plus. A true, irredeemable villain is someone that has truly hateful intentions, punches down, is cruel, etc.

He has no redeeming qualities. He is abusive, as well as bigoted. He has caused harm towards many people, especially his most devout followers. And to acknowledge all those things as fact but simply not care about the harm he’s caused is what makes him a character you just hate.

Characters I want readers to love to hate have a strict moral code and have some fun qualities. They’re usually an anti-villain or a soft “a” antagonist. The only character I’ve written to be truly awful, everyone should pray for his downfall, is Reverend Pryce.
