Why is it that a character in visual media gets to retain their design, while in written media people want to override the author's vision? Some ppl seem to be against illustrations and characters on covers purely bc "then I can't imagine the characters as I wish".

I admit I think I have some level of aphantasia, so I kinda need and want illustrations to lean on so I don't have to basically do character design in my head while reading.

Sometimes I look at the statistics of this account to see if I can figure out anything, like what people like and don't like. I know I shouldn't care about it, but I can't make much sense of the people who block me. Like I don't do much else than post art here.
