Shoutout to all of the engineers today that are desperately explaining to boomers and PMs that, yes, you need to urgently upgrade from your legacy version of PHP you’re still running in production.

deranged version number practices: - treating version numbers as a single decimal number. I know one project that refers to its latest release as both version 1.8 and version 1.80 - unnecessary qualifiers, like "v1.0.2 Hotfix 3". just increment the patch part of the version number!

Philosophy as an engineering question, not a legal question, is the kind of shit I live for.

Taking the ball and going home is pointless in a game where everyone needs their own ball.

everywhere i look, the world is *begging* for self-hosted infrastructure

Excited to talk about this song with my right-wing relatives who are heartbroken about their left-wing siblings who don't talk to them anymore. Maybe there will be enough hours in the day to gently guide them to the point.

"Maybe this had something to do with the Trump flag you kept on your garage from 2020 to 2023?"

Colorado tracked me down and mailed me a check for a tax refund from 4 years ago. I didn’t know the positive community chest cards existed IRL.

All Indiana has ever done is deny me unemployment & suspend the gas tax in spite of their shitty roads.

I’m tired of arguing about objectively better approaches to digital infrastructure.

What do you do when you build a product that the world desperately needs, but by design does not offer a return on investment?

The RoI is the utility we gain from using it, I guess, but a man’s gotta eat.

The worst kind of open-source devs are ones that act like you need to ask them before making a contribution.

Laptops were cool and all, but my tablet-first workflow makes me feel like I'm living in a world beyond the technology of Inspector Gadget.

one of the weirdest things about using AI tools is that they're not great at helping you use AI tools.

I can't stop thinking how wrong the tech bros have understood creativity and creators. Or even just having hobbies. #erliart

"Philosophers say that consciousness is a structural phenomenon of how information flows / how causal relations are meshed.... but what if the structures were made out of cheese???? Sounds silly now doesn't it???" Political pundits suddenly opining on phil of mind has been pure torture.

Broke: BYOPC Woke: BYO Infrastructure “We need you to use our network because it meets regulatory requirements” “No thanks, I’ve got my own”

My dreams are just amorphous blobs of data moving through systems in ways that aren’t stupid.

dreamed my dad warned me about “superintelligent ants” at his rental so i went to get some raid but the cupboards were bare because the first thing the ants had done was find and incorporate all bottles of insecticide into the foundation of the tiny superstructure they built in front of the fridge

Using shared implementations of business logic in everything from 8 bit micros to webassembly is my “land of chocolate”

I just realized something: I don't think I'll ever buy another x86 CPU.

Posts like this are why I’m obsessed with my latest personal project. It’s designed for you and your friends/family to have your own digital infrastructure. No BS, just a collection of hardware shared among approved parties. I’m so excited to see this sentiment gaining popularity.
