Small tip to avoid burning tokens when creating a new session in GitHub Copilot App. Press "!" to switch to running shell commands, then type "ls", the session will be created (eventually, with the worktree if you chose this option) without unnecessary greetings to the agent. #GitHubCopilot

For my "agent skill month" posts in october, I needed an editorial calendar with the related copilot sessions. So I asked github copilot to create a canvas for me. #GithubCopilotApp #GitHub

/ask (ot its alias /btw) is one of the slash command I've started to use more and more to ask a question to github copilot without interrupting the model thinking. Nice little tip. #githubcopilotapp

Canvas in GitHub Copilot App are very nice. Being able to interact both ways is a game changer. I asked Copilot to find how was working somehting in the code, then open in the buitl-in editor canvas the file to check the code myself. #githubcopilotapp

@scott.hanselman.com I've just seen the replay of the keynote you gave in July at Avanade for Orange Day. Amazing talk 👍. I could not attend live; I was on paternity leave 🍼. Did you give a public version of this talk at another event so I can share the replay with people outside of Avanade?

How we extend dev tools has completely changed over the last decade. We all remember buggy plugins freezing Visual Studio or locking up JetBrains IDEs. Moving extensions out-of-process finally solved stability, while VS Code proved building an extension could be fast and accessible.

We will obviously be able to integrate tools like Azure DevOps or Jira, but also create our own. The complexity of building an extension isn't even a question anymore: with just a slash command, the agent builds and uses it live without restarting the app.

Now, ADEs (Agentic Development Environments) are sparking the next paradigm shift. With MCP (Model Context Protocol), we aren’t building extensions for human clicks anymore. We’re exposing tools to agents. And with MCP Apps, agents can even summon interactive dynamic UIs on the fly.

Swapped Netflix this weekend for “The Story of VS Code | Official Documentary” and have zero regrets. Whether you use it or not, its tech impact is wild: LSP, Monaco, remote dev, accessibility... If you work in tech, give it a watch. Great storytelling, learned a ton. 📺 #vscode @vscode.dev

When I started using GitHub Copilot App in preview a few months ago, it was to easily run and manage multiple sessions in parrallel. Now, thanks to canvas, GitHub Copilot can do anything. Here I'm using it to run in an Android emulator the mobile app I just developed. #GitHubCopilotApp #github

I stopped using GitHub Copilot App for a month and half because I stopped working with the arrival of my newborn. I've just reopened it today because I was curious, I am so amazed by all the changes. This new insights tab looks good and I can't wait to have fun with the customize section. #github

Now that it has become crucial to pay attention to usage with GitHub Copilot, it's nice to have this kind of detail about the context for a session. In case you missed it, just click on your session title in GitHub Copilot App.

I needed a SQL Server database to test something. VS Code mssql extension could create a local sql server container for me but it does not work with podman. The wizard to create an Azure SQL Database was glitchy. In the end, best solution was to use aspire, in few minutes I had my database ready.

I started working on a project that does not have much documentation. So I've been starting to create SQL Notebooks to have in the same file markdown documentation and the corresponding SQL queries that I can directly execute from the notebook. I love the experience. #sqlnotebooks #vscode

If you have not tried creating canvas in GitHub Copilot App, you are missing something. I just asked him to create a canva to visualize diagrams related to my code. And now I have drawio and mermaid diagrams in GitHub Copilot App. Being able to prompt to modify the UI of the app live is amazing

Every morning, before the Daily Scrum Meeting with my team, I do a standup with GitHub Copilot CLI. Nice way to review the work done recently, what's still in progress, and resume to a previous session. #GitHubCopilotCLI #GitHubCopilot #GitHub

In my classes, I use interactive MCQs both to engage students and to automatically record attendance. Since the attendance data was scattered across several Excel files, I asked GitHub Copilot CLI to consolidate it into a single workbook showing attendance for each student across all sessions.

@vscode.dev just launched VS Code Agents App, a companion for VS Code Insiders built for agent-centric dev. Better Copilot session management, cleaner UI for AI workflows, nice worktree support, fast session customization. Still in preview but promising. #VSCode #GitHubCopilot #VSCodeAgentsApp
