I’ve returned after a long absence. I was among the first few thousand in the beta and it was fun. When it reached 10K, not so much as X-types started showing up. I’m back to see if social norms have curbed the spread.

Bye, bye, Miss American Pie The barbarians at the gate have arrived with the latest wave. Today’s examples 1. Someone who purports to be pharma boy 2. Shameless commerce by newsreader offering a discount on latest book 3. Shade from fan of newsreader: go to Mastodon if you don’t like it. Music

Falling out of love is a funny thing. Everything is good, until, suddenly, it isn't. But it's not only romance. Tastes shift out from under the feet across the boards. I just threw over an IDE after 15 years of being mostly ok. Robert Hunter and Blaise Pascal nailed it.

Two months in my proportion of recognized cultural references is asymptomatically approaching zero. I can’t tell if something is a fresh meme or an invocation of the Wayback Machine. My way of life had fallen in the sere. Woe.

Gordon Lightfoot died yesterday, closing out another musical catalog. Whether it was being stuck on the grass where the cold wind blows, or standing on the highway with a sign that just said ‘mother’ he comes down now on the summer side of life.

At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner they introduced their fresh crop of interns. At least 75% women. The high proportion can’t be explained by cable Weather Babe Syndrome. Either women are intrinsically superior journalists (about likely as men being) or …

So. By my reckoning it’s now summertime in Seattle environs. It will be like this, apart from some scorching days and some wet green/gray days. Highs in the low 70s, lows in the low 50s. The sky can take on a milky cast and the air is soft and the skin feels it neither gains nor loses heat. Yeah

Guy I used to follow trying to kill the vibe here with pics of prominent dems (plus Tony Fauci) in orange jumpsuits. Now someone may retaliate with pics of the lower life forms in the remains of the GOP in stocks being pelted with gobs of … . I’m here to get away from that shit show. Damn.

I lucked in here among the first couple of thousand and had fun. Time has come to conserve the vibe. As a first step, I now follow only mutuals. And I have a hard level of 1,000 for followers and following and that will probably go down to 150 as my graph object of interlocking mutuals. To engage.
