Every time someone in math class says “When am I ever gonna use this?” The answer should be “every day so you don’t get scammed.” So many people think corporations have to raise prices by $40 to pay people a living wage, when the reality of the situation is it’s more like a $0.04 increase at most.

While some of this is humans being bad at grasping scale, that can be solved by googling some publicly stated numbers and doing some basic multiplication and division. Some aspects aren’t going to be as simple as that, but it still gives you a better idea of the scale of the numbers to not be duped.

For some reason YouTube has decided that I speak Spanish and keeps serving me ads in Spanish. I’m not arguing too badly though, because since I don’t speak the language it’s a lot easier to tune them out so that if I don’t look at the screen, I don’t even know what companies were advertising to me.
