We had a brilliant week with our 150 trainee mathematics teachers last week at their first training days in Birmingham, Leeds and London. We geeked out over fractions and circle theorems and started thinking in depth about misconceptions and their PGCE assignment #MathsToday

We had a fantastic time with Year 2 at last week's Kick Off Days. Lovely to catch up, do some hard maths and start exploring ambassador projects. Next week it's Year 1's turn. They'll try some Talking Maths card sorts, do a deep dive into circle theorems and think about misconceptions #MathsToday

And another academic year is underway! Good luck to all our trainees as you meet your new classes, we can't wait to see your first lesson observations this term! And to our ECTs, welcome back and we'll see you for Kick Off Summit at the end of this month #MathsToday

Happy half-term 🎉 It's been a busy one for our trainees with assignment hand-ins and final QTS observations. Many of our ECTs are experiencing exam-season for the first time as Y11 teachers, as well as wrapping up their ambassador projects. We hope everyone gets a rest next week and enjoys some sun🌞

In an assessment lots of pupils drew this is as the line y=x for this reflection, drawing a line diagonally from bottom left to top right. This normally works if you have 'square' axes but not in this case!

Our Y1s will be handing in their PGCE assignment tomorrow. They've been doing some practitioner research looking at a particular misconception and how to address it. Massive well-done to them on all their hard work! 👏 What interesting misconceptions have you seen recently? #MathsToday

Only one in four pupils facing disadvantage achieve strong passes in English and maths GCSEs. Two in three of young people facing disadvantage then leave education without a Level 3 qualification (A‑levels or equivalent).

Welcome to the summer term! A busy one for us as we support trainees to the QTS and PGCE finish lines, we have our last Online Seminars, and we get ready for our final in-person training day with our Y2s. We can't wait to see the ambassador projects they've been working on! #MathsToday

We loved our last training days of the year with Y1s last week. Trainees in London, Birmingham and Leeds looked at using rich tasks, different ways of scaffolding, and calculator use, as well as diving into the topic of iteration. They also shared their advice for next year's cohort #MathsToday

We're looking forward to seeing our trainees online on Wednesday. They'll be engaging with some academic reading, have a choice of sessions honing in on different parts of their PGCE assignment, and finishing with an exciting session from Jayne Webster about representations in maths #MathsToday

The last one of these was excellent. Well-worth signing up for #MathsToday

Was great to see our Y1s at training days in Birmingham, Leeds & London last week. We loved hearing how you're getting on in school and geeking out on some maths with you all. Trainees also got thinking about their next steps in their practitioner research for their PGCE assignment #MathsToday

Over the next three days, we'll be welcoming over 200 trainees to their second in-person training day. They’ll be taking a deep dive into the topic of graphs, thinking about how they engage with research and developing their criticality ready for that PGCE write-up! #MathsToday

Well done to ECTs for their engagement on training day 2 last week. We enjoyed dropping into breakout rooms and hearing all about the brilliant work happening with pupils as part of the ambassador projects. We're excited to support with these in seminars and interactions this term #MathsToday
