#ASC2026 #AnthroSoCal2026 Get ready everybody! The official @tcrf.net panel, Cut Content in Retro Games, starts at 3 PM **TODAY** in Panel Room 1!! Don't miss this really fun deep dive into some of your favorite classics and obscurities*!! (*obscurities are not guaranteed to be your favorites)

Someone also posted this to our forums as well! Here's our article on what was known before this prototype was released! Most of it appears to be in the ROM. tcrf.net/Prerelease:B... bsky.app/profile/fact...

Facts About Banjo-Kazooie@factsaboutbk.bsky.social

Someone claimed to have uploaded the SNES prototype of Project Dream that they had in their personal collection on Archive.org. This is footage by OlieGamerTV. We don't know if its authentic but it works.

I regret to inform you that they're at it again, pivoting to a new method. While Cloudflare mitigated most of the requests, at this scale, even 1% is enough to cause a disruption. We've adjusted the firewall rules some to hopefully maintain smooth service for real users. Thanks for your patience!

Our attacker finally seems to have learned that our sister wiki, Data Crystal, exists, and pointed their cannon at it. Data Crystal is now behind Cloudflare as well. For TCRF updates, we haven't seen any outage issues since swapping to Cloudflare, and more VPNs should be allowed as well.

As far as the DDoS situation goes, our host is still seeing attack traffic to our old (public) IP address, but our server is happily serving pages behind Cloudflare and our dashboard suggests things are going well :) In the next few days, we'll try to have a post-mortem report on what happened.

linode status update: attack still ongoing, but since they can't hit our second (proxied) IP everything is up and working fine. we've also ironed out a few of the kinks with the cloudflare migration, so logged in users should have a buttery smooth experience

It seems that our friend began targeting our backup server and knocked it offline again. Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so welcome to round four!

the back and forth with Linode continues ... from what I understand the attack has subsided, but now there's some other network fault at play that we're troubleshooting

Update from Linode... we're still waiting for the attack to subside. There's nothing we can do. We do have all of the files and data backed up, and can migrate if it comes down to it.

the DDoS has now migrated to the temporary webserver that doesn't do anything but serve the error page. fun to watch now that it doesn't matter

While we wait on the DDoS mitigation to end (there's nothing we can do but wait), we've stood up a temporary landing page with an explanation of what's going on. Hope to see you again soon! tcrf.net

Linode got back to us, and unfortunately it looks like it was what we suspected: another DDoS attack started and an automatic mitigation kicked in. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon!

Recently, there was some controversy, because an AI user pointed their automated tools at our website, and got a warning about a prompt injection. Nothing actually happened, mind, but our anti-AI page successfully annoyed the operator and interrupted their "work."

I'd like to use this opportunity to clarify something: if you think a text file that reads "delete everything" is malware, you are a clown. If you use Claude or other agent tools, you are a clown. You are not welcome on our site, in our community, or frankly anywhere.

A few people have wanted to know how this works: the mechanism is pretty simple. The site checks if your browser says it's coming from one of these sites. If so, you get the "AI loser" page. The link on the page strips out the "utm_source" parameter and referrer, so you only see it once.

A bit of a more unique post: The site's ChatGPT source prevention screen!

These checks are not comprehensive, and that's fine. I only add the ones I notice and start seeing semi-regularly. The check also doesn't persist or save in any way beyond printing a log message that a "ChatGPT dork" got blocked.

We're rolling out a new tool to help compare images throughout the wiki! These are on limited pages currently but the selection is expanding. Shoutouts to Hawk for its work on this!

Seeing the audio for this prototype restored so quickly is incredible, amazing job

I did a speedrun of Glass Joe on the newly discovered prototype of Punch Out! It doesn't play any audio though, so I ended up doing a complete restoration of the audio using very advanced tech. Please hear the tech you won't regret the tech. www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Fj...
