whether we should even be at Eurovision aside, Tyler Shaw has always seemed to be on the brink of superstardom but hasn't been able to Shawn Mendes it and just needs that one big hit.

Here are the five finalists to represent Canada at Eurovision in the spring: William Cloutier, Josiane (Josiane Comeau), Rêve (Briannah Donolo), Talk (Nicholas Durocher) and Tyler Shaw. You get to vote and decide who goes.

Sometimes I just want to give it all up and become the nanny of three sickly sweet children who might be even richer if their handsome British father produced a musical about cats.

Sometimes I just want to give it all up and become the nanny of two sickly children who might be ghosts in an old Georgian farmhouse in Scotland.

Currently at a kids party in a Toronto park wondering why we need 1000 more cops when one has been just idling his car next to the playground while checking his phone for the last hour.

Crime is down. Toronto is objectively a safe place. Why does Bradford want us scared? www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...

Shopify's CEO is on X advocating for Brad Bradford to win because of a City of Toronto post about speed limits featuring two men and a stroller, something he clearly doesn't think will happen under Brad's rule. This is the guy who thinks rich people deserve more votes. This is who Brad attracts.

Victor, the Traitors player who has actually got everything correctly figured out and repeatedly articulates his big theory but is so sweaty and insistent and lacking-in-even-basic-chill that nobody will believe him, is very Bluesky-coded.

A great solid production with a great cast of a very epic, sprawling story told intimately... that said, nothing I can really criticize this stage adaptation but also didn't feel any huge emotional effect (maybe I'm just dead inside).

Here for A Fine Balance. I know nothing about this, nor the book it's based on.

Uh, so this is a thing and I didn't hate it. Def have notes but chessy cute musical based on a cheesy cute movie. This is the definition of very good mediocre unnecessary musical adaptation. But some great things especially when they leaned into the Zen-ny Japanesey moments.

My honest take on the TO Mayoral Race is that Olivia Chow is pretty good at governing and pretty bad at campaigning. We're voting for someone to be good at running the city and she is pretty good at that.

NOOOOOOOO I'M NOT IN THE COUNTRY FOR THIS AGGGGGGGHHHHHHH. But as I said back in Jan, Cineplex should be showing Heated Rivalry AND IT'S HAPPENING! Can you imagine how horny that theatre audience is gonna be?! [blanche devereaux spritz gif]

finally started Interview with the Vampire show but uh... is it me or is the interviewer terrible on this show? yes I know who it is but his line readings here seem particularly bad

Waiting until Ukraine showed us what’s up before Canada started talking about getting rid of starlink is the same nearsighted freemarket perspective that sells airports to American oligarchs and calls legislating ai “complicated.” We’ve known the whole time. We don’t need bombs to tell us.

This (and maybe why Elsinore felt more apprehensively traumatic than anything)

This is another situation where I think GenXers fall through the cracks a bit. As a gay man born in the 70s I was just becoming aware of my sexuality at the height of the AIDS crisis. I was too young to have friends who died of AIDS, but old enough to hear AIDS jokes in middle-school locker rooms.

only took almost 4 hrs to buy tix to a show that is certainly shorter than that because the Mir>!($'s couldn't get their online pre-sale sh!t together 😒

flipping back between Celeb Traitors UK and the first normie US Traitors, and both work so well (altho in both cases, I find myself rooting for the Traitors, which isn't always the case). (and also reiterates my theory that a mix of "celeb" and normies is the least successful combo)

Mark Harris@markharris.bsky.social

Enjoying the current US Traitors because in Victor, it gives us a new type: The rare faithful who is smart enough to get things almost exactly right but whose sketchy roundtable demeanor screams, "I'm lying!" But I'd like it more if Cumming were an engaged host, not an ornately shticky "character."

Rarely in the area so went to my favourite Wonton place that basically only serves wonton noodles and now... There's no shrimp in the wontons... What? In this economy? Because of this economy? Is it even a wonton anymore?

I appreciate all my friends concern and warning that I stop going on roller coasters but tbh, there's been more deaths at Air Canada in accidents involving American airport ATCs this year alone so...

Here for Thelma and Louise, A New Musical. Which sounds like something from 30 Rock. In reality a bit more legit, with music by Neko Case, Choreography by Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber, Directed by Trip Cullman, and by original writer Callie Khouri. Plus Rachel Tucker as Louise.

Thelma and Louise. Still a GREAT story. And great production and production design, and terrific cast. But somehow the musical doesn't quite take off, with the serviceable music that only soars to leap off a cliff right at the end.

I still believe anything can make a great musical. But it's in the execution, and both book and music has to work in tandem and each be great. but yah, it didn't NEED to be a musical. It could be, but differently, needing music that elevates each emotional arc, thru-out. bsky.app/profile/esth...

estherp.bsky.social@estherp.bsky.social

No real reason to turn it into a musical?

I hear this with people in every city... "there's someone sitting on the sidewalk asking for change and I feel threatened"

Clare Blackwood@clareblackwood.bsky.social

I'm betting that a lot of people who respond to polls saying they feel more unsafe in Toronto now are conflating the feeling of "I am physically unsafe and under threat in my environment" with "there was a homeless man on the sidewalk on my way to the Eaton Centre and I don't want to see that."

2. Gillis a BAD "SNL" host and has been THRICE. He puts in no evident effort and gets no evident pleasure out of doing something that is supposed to be fun. There's no evidence the cast likes working with him or the writers like writing for him and he should never host "SNL" again. 2/2

I have two complementary takes on Shane Gillis and his latest "SNL" stuff. 1. Gillis has a history of being racist, xenophobic and misogynistic and his monologue was very misogynistic. He never should have hosted "SNL" in the first place or second place and he should never host "SNL" again. 1/2
