When you dismiss the nice things your friends say about you, you are calling them a liar and a poor judge of character who you are choosing not to believe.

In non-writing related news, I put the finishing touches on my second World of Warcraft house today. I don't think I'll be touching them again until the next big patch. Now to put all that creative energy back into something I can make money on...

I've shared it with a couple of people who were interested in making a map for me, and I'm pretty sure they ran away screaming. To be quite honest, I don't blame them. That is the appropriate reaction to this map.

Refusing to tell someone that a family member has died because they aren't part of your religion, or because they are estranged from their parent who you think should pass that news along, is messed up. My mom was abusive. She was a child molester who married another child molester.

I don't care that your religion thinks I should "forgive" and just brush that under the rug. Not telling me that my grandpa, My uncle, My other uncle, Or my grandmother Had passed away? Is messed up. Letting me find out on Facebook when the general public found out?

Not giving me a heads up that their time is close, giving me a chance? You guys are all terrible human beings. You are all proof that blood does not make family. Family are the people who care. Family shows up. Family can be together forever... And I won't recognize a one of your faces.

we'd all be so much better off if we hadn't decided as a civilization that saying "I don't know" is supposedly a sign of weakness, not of honesty

I went to a friend's book debut party, and it was so fun! Coffee, conchas, and signs to hold up for pictures. Really makes me wish I'd written romance instead of fantasy. She really knows where the marketing is!

My husband and I went out to see Iron Lung for Valentine's Day. Hearts pump lots of blood, Iron Lung has lots of blood, seems like a perfect date movie to me! I'm really glad we were able to see it in the theater. It was beautiful, disturbing, and one of my top favorite horror movies now.

It did not feel like "only 3 million dollars". It did NOT feel like two hours. The discomfort delivered. The body horror delivered. The cosmic horror delivered. I *cared* about Simon in the end. I cried for him when he said, "You sent me down here to die and you don't even know my name?"

I live in Phoenix, and we're expecting rain. On the fence if I should be running out to stock up on bread and toilet paper. I mean, we've got plenty for now, but it's rain. In Phoenix. Pray for us. I don't know what we'll do when the wet stuff hits. We don't have the infrastructure for this.

Well, I'm on the verge of giving up on my brain. I'm having an impossible time with this book. It's a jumbled mess right now. I wanna write faeries, pirates, and vampires. Not wizards. But I also wanna finish this series. T_T

I threw my hat in the ring and put Everyone Dies Alone up for SPFBO yesterday. I did NOT make the coin flip, which is a little disappointing but fine. I plan on being supportive and excited for others in ways I couldn't if I had skin in the game. This'll be fun!

Happy New Year folks! We survived another trip around the sun, and might make it through this one. May the new year treat you kindly and be full of happy moments and relief from stress and the insanity that seems to have hit so many of us last year. Good luck to us all.

Second, I feel guilty for not being there, so I keep thinking I should go grab my laptop and set it up in the living room, but that's work and I need to get better. But it's only a little laptop... Only a little editing. As a treat.

Finally, I am just irritated that I'm sick. Running a fever for a couple of days now, but I just have a little cough and a tickle in my throat. So I feel fine-ish, but I'm exhausted and my skin hurts. I want to do all the things! But no energy. Bleh.

My birthday yesterday went really well. One thing my husband got me was a few lottery scratchers, and I'm glad I didn't check them until today. Not a single winner among them. It's good I didn't face that disappointment until my birthday was over! 🤣

The biggest birthday party I had as a kid was while my grandpa was in the hospital when I turned 5. The loneliest was in 8th grade when I was finally allowed to invite friends and nobody showed up. The absolute shittiest was when I turned 20. And I almost stopped myself from having more at 21.

Just went through the process of updating all my covers with changes to the title/author fonts effects. Same iconic font, it just looks slightly prettier now (and all volumes will match now instead of The Arcane War being completely different from the rest).

I also changed the paperback covers to glossy, because I'm having texture issues with the matte finish Amazon uses. It doesn't feel nice in my hands after a few years. That's probably just a me thing, but in case it's not - you're welcome. lol

All pumped up and ready to start the week right with putting words on paper. Or computer screen. I should spend time composing music to go with some lyrics I wrote, too. Maybe that's a tomorrow thing, once I set up my keyboard or tune one of my guitars. Getting this book out is priority one.
