i know iโ€™m old but as a kid growing up in the โ€˜90s, we usually got somewhere between 12 and 28 surprises inside a typical box of caylus vs. foltyn

Saw this on the shelf at Target and itโ€™s like a portal to an utterly unknowable parallel world. As if i was peering into the dimension from Stalker

the stream was kind of funny because for the first like 2 hours there was barely anyone in chat and i was dying early over and over and making sad groaning noises like when you kill a link to the past boss. then i started getting credits to stage 6 and 7 finally

in a mood where all i want to play is arcade games but i'm also really drowsy and unmotivated right now so i keep opening them, dying really early on, then closing them. it's got to the point where i booted up batrider and closed it during the rom/ram check

as you play the game, you unlock more continues. continues can be used after you game over to resume playing, or fed to your virtual pet "Wubly", who will die if they dont eat enough continues.

yeah you could remove continues and enforce 1ccs. or you could have an awesome virtual pet that grows and evolves as you feed it your continues instead of using them in the main game? the choice is yours arcade devs....

as you play the game, you gradually unlock more continues. you can spend them at the continue store to buy "continue generators" that produce 1 new continue every minute for faster continue earning.

i've been crossposting my balloon fight scores on x the everything app (the japanese streamer who got me into the game uses it as her main social media) and i just got this notification what kind of scams they running over there

if i'm going to be playing balloon fight at 10pm anyways i might as well stream it i guess, i'll go set it up on my streaming computa

they should make a controller that works? like when you plug it into the computer, instead of turning on a red light and doing nothing, you should be able to play a game with it. just a thought i had

i have wasted almost 30 minutes trying to figure out if my controller that i've barely even used is already somehow broken, or if they just didn't come up with my idea of being able to play games using a controller.

I think people who like arcade style games and who like other type of games should become peaceful and be friends. Yuri between arcade game and other game. It's beautiful.

i kinda want to stream balloon fight but i already played it a lot today, plus i'm not interesting enough at talking to carry a stream and it's probably not very fun to watch silent balloon trip grinding

i wanna get into final fight sometime because everyone who plays it for 1cc seems to be like holy shit this is one of the best games ever made

Painful review of the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle on Steam that really highlights how destructive the continue system was to people's perception of arcade games. The beat 'em ups mentioned play wildly different from one another if you're actually trying to survive on 1 credit.

i got into balloon trip because a japanese gradius streamer i watch was playing it, it seems like a few streamers in her friend circle have been playing it and comparing scores. it's really fun to improve at a high score game when other people are playing it too....

things i like about balloon trip - at the very start there's a challenging section that's always the same, before the randomness starts up. it's fun getting better at the static part - difficulty ebbs and flows, but doesn't slowly ramp up, so it's about how long you can endure the base difficulty

- you get points for surviving, but survival point gain is very slow compared to getting balloons, so taking risks is worth it - balloon chaining: if you pop 20 balloons without missing any you get a big score bonus and increase the base point value of balloons (up to 2 times)

- balloon chaining encourages riskier play in the early game until you max the balloon value, then it becomes safer to focus on surviving as long as you can. but you can still get the big bonuses after maxing the balloon value, so there's still an incentive to go for chains and take risks
