A critical security vulnerability in the local proxy server has been fixed in Decap CMS. Sveltia CMS is unaffected, as it has never used a proxy. Still using Decap CMS? Migrate to Sveltia CMS today to enjoy improved performance, security, reliability and experience.
⚠️ SECURITY UPDATE: v0.253.1 fixed a medium-severity vulnerability in the Editorial Workflow that let unreviewed files be published along with an entry, and a low-severity ReDoS in entry search. As always, we recommend using the latest version of Sveltia CMS to benefit from improvements.

Regardless of severity, Sveltia CMS solves reported security vulnerabilities within a few hours — as long as I’m awake — even before replying to the reporters. In contrast, Decap CMS can take months, not even weeks, to ship fixes, It’s insane. I’ve never trusted the team behind it.
v0.253.0 catches up with options Decap CMS has just documented, including `signoff_commits`, the `forgejo` backend name and pattern-based inline editor components. RichText fields can now be limited to a single line, and a low-severity security issue has been fixed.

The Sveltia CMS Showcase now features 700 sites! It’s probably the largest database in the headless CMS sector. My plan is to surpass the Joomla Showcase, which currently has 1,200 sites, by early next year. We would have the world’s largest CMS showcase.
v0.252.0 makes the Publish Changes button work out of the box on GitLab. It now creates a CI/CD pipeline with your own access token, even when the latest commit has `[skip ci]`, so editors no longer need to enter a deploy hook URL.
v0.251.0 brings two Editorial Workflow improvements. A Relation field can now create a related entry on the fly, and the entry goes into the same pull request as the entry you’re editing. Marking an entry as Ready now approves its pull/merge request on GitHub, GitLab, Gitea or Forgejo.
Need a CMS for a multilingual site? Look no further. Sveltia CMS comes with top-notch internationalization (i18n) support, including one-click AI translation, flexible content structures, and fine-grained field options. Best of all, it’s open source and free!
Thinking of switching from WordPress? We’ve got your back! Join the hundreds of users migrated to Sveltia CMS, including 100 sites featured in our showcase. No database, no server, no subscription.
v0.250.0 passes a `serialize` function to custom `toFile` formatters, so you can run the built-in output through your own code formatter, such as Prettier, instead of formatting from scratch. It also fixes a large number of bugs found in a codebase-wide bug hunt.
v0.249.0 keeps the Editorial Workflow board up to date with pull requests changed outside the CMS, no reload needed, and adds a Refresh button. On GitHub, `auth_scope` now takes a list, so Open Authoring contributors can keep forks in sync after workflow file changes.
v0.248.0 brings back spaces as the slug replacement character, so filenames like `Sourdough focaccia.md` work again for Obsidian vaults. On GitHub, publishing while a required check is still running now sets the pull request to auto-merge instead of failing.
v0.247.0 lets you sort Relation field options by any field in the referenced collection, like showing the newest posts first. Plus Move to Top, Move to Bottom and Move to… for list items, files and key-value pairs, so long lists are easier to reorder.
v0.246.0 turns the Compute field into a calculator: arithmetic expressions saved as numbers, references to the current list item, and sum/avg/min/max/count across every item, so you can total up line items. Plus PDF thumbnails in the NPM package.

This is a successor to Decap: sveltiacms.app/en/
v0.245.0 brings i18n upgrades: fill in other locales’ empty values from the default locale while keeping them editable, localize field labels, hints and defaults, and write dates in each locale’s language. Plus a single-pane editor option and Relation/Select keys for keyed lists.
v0.243.0 brings List field upgrades: copy and paste items between any lists, even across entries and sites, and store a list as a map keyed by a subfield. Variable types get descriptions and hints, and a removed list item or object can now be restored.
v0.241.0 adds Preview Workflow: save changes to a pull request, check them on a deploy preview, then publish without any review steps. Editorial Workflow gets new options too: drop review stages, publish quick fixes in one go, and require fields in drafts.
v0.240.0 lets you apply preview styles to specific collections or files. Custom field types can also replace an existing file, so a regenerated thumbnail overwrites the old one instead of piling up copies.
v0.239.0 adds an option to number entry slugs automatically, so new posts become 1, 2, 3… without a field to hold the number. Inline editor components, including images, can now also be inserted into Markdown table cells.
⚠️ SECURITY UPDATE: v0.238.1 fixed a medium-severity XSS vulnerability in the RichText field preview, exploitable through a crafted link. Only sites that disable the `sanitize_preview` option are affected. As always, we recommend using the latest version of Sveltia CMS to benefit from improvements.
v0.238.0 brings a table view and bulk editing to the entry list, plus an option to ask for commit messages when saving. New APIs also let developers add custom pages, string transformations and List item summaries.
v0.237.0 brings tables, horizontal rules, text alignment and link targets to the rich text editor, plus inline editor components. The new unique and auto_increment field options also give your entries database-like unique values and sequential numbers!
v0.236.0 can commit your changes to your local Git repository every time you save. Our demo site is also live now: try Sveltia CMS with sample content, no account needed!
v0.235.0 brings deploy previews to the Gitea/Forgejo backend. The Number field’s stepping can now be turned off with step: -1. On mobile, the field shows the numeric keypad only when it can’t take a negative number, so add min: 0 to keep it.
v0.234.0 fixes a long list of bugs found in a thorough review of the codebase, from data output and validation to i18n, Git backends, accessibility and performance. The release notes list the changes you may notice.
Our showcase is growing rapidly and now features 650 real-world examples, including 180 sites migrated from the Netlify/Decap CMS and 100 sites from WordPress. You deserve a better CMS. Try Sveltia CMS today!
v0.233.0 adds monorepo support. Set the new `root_dir` backend option to a site’s directory, and the CMS treats it as the repository root, so each site in a monorepo can have its own CMS. This effectively solves three Decap CMS issues.
v0.232.0 makes editor components, including images, available in RichText fields with the HTML format. Custom components in dialog mode can now show a thumbnail, handy for icons. The Anthropic translator moves to Claude Haiku 5.5.
v0.231.0 brings the Editorial Workflow and Open Authoring to Gitea/Forgejo, and Open Authoring to GitLab. The RichText field can now save HTML with the new format option, and the rich text editor gets a floating link editor. 4 more Decap CMS issues solved.
⚠️ SECURITY UPDATE: v0.230.1 fixes a medium-severity vulnerability in the Editorial Workflow that could let unreviewed changes be merged along with an entry. As always, we recommend using the latest version of Sveltia CMS to benefit from improvements.
v0.230.0 supports self-hosted S3-compatible storage like Garage and MinIO for your assets. A new global html tag (HTM) lets you write custom previews, editor components and field types in JSX-like markup without a build step, and toPreview gets a Decap-compatible getAsset.
v0.229.0 checks your config for i18n options that leave nothing to translate. String length limits no longer count the prefix and suffix, and TOML and JSON front matter is kept on save. Plus more fixes.

#Jamstack framework watch, October edition: As I said last month, custom tooling has overtaken Next.js and Jekyll, becoming the 5th most popular “framework” among @sveltiacms.app users. Astro and Eleventy are still going up, while all the others are down.
@rodchristiansen.net Hey, did you know that Decap CMS is effectively dead? We offer a modern alternative to Netlify/Decap CMS with hundreds of improvements over the predecessor, and more and more sites are migrating. Try Sveltia CMS today! Bonus: It’s developed in Toronto 🇨🇦
v0.227.0 brings Click-to-Highlight to custom preview templates. Add a data-key-path attribute to an element, and clicking it highlights that field in the Edit Pane. It also fixes a few bugs.
v0.226.0 keeps custom field values in place when saving, and gives custom field controls the getAsset prop. Previews now show unsaved images and switch to blob URLs once files load.
v0.225.0 locks content on a protected GitHub or Gitea/Forgejo branch the user can’t push to, and hides Publish from users who can’t merge on GitLab and Gitea/Forgejo. Plus a fix for collapsed items in lists with variable types.

We’ve implemented single-file collections because I know that, among (showcased) @sveltiacms.app users, vanilla JavaScript is the second most popular “framework” with a 15% share. My extensive research into showcases not only aims to share examples, but also to enable data-driven decision-making.
v0.224.0 adds a `readonly` option to lock content, single-file JSON collections, automatic renaming of uploaded files with `filename_template`, React hooks via `CMS.React`, field-level media storage options that inherit the top-level ones, and more accurate type declarations.
