ITSM job posting: "We need an experienced ServiceNow admin." ITSM budget: "Here is one free coupon for LinkedIn Learning." ITSM reality: *chef's kiss* #itsm #servicenow

Decided to switch my professional topics from here over to my new @voloitsm.com handle. If you are interested in IT Service Management or ServiceNow stuff. Pls connect! Here, I'm just gonna be me on the personal side. ;-)

ITSM wisdom: "Change is constant" they said. "ITIL is universal" they said. "This will definitely work in your environment" they said. *narrator: it did not* #itsm

ME: "We should document this process" | EVERYONE: "yeah totally" | 6 months later: *process exists only in Dave's head and Dave is on vacation*

You see #ServiceNow updates just dropped. Your workflows are now poetry. Beautiful, incomprehensible poetry. Anything else? Uh... We broke it on purpose. #itsm

YOUR INCIDENT PRIORITY IS WRONG. *closes ticket without explanation* — every ticket classifier ever, probably with a very good reason I'll never know... #itsm

The CMDB said it's a database. I said it's a democracy. Turns out the CMDB was right and also extremely angry about being questioned. #ConfigurationManagement #cmdb #itsm

ITSM professionals... you are not crazy. Change management actually DID say no to that ticket. For legitimate reasons. Probably. (They didn't give any, but they meant to.) ;-) #changemanagement #itsm

Seriously, I've worked for a few large organizations and the story is always the same: ITSM is seen as 'overhead' or 'process bloat' until a critical incident exposes how chaotic the IT operations actually are. — just "Heroes" fighting fires. Then wonder why there are so many outages a year. #itsm

There are two flavors of Problem Management: Reactive (investigating incidents that already happened) and Proactive (identifying risks BEFORE they cause incidents). Think of reactive as the doctor treating illness, proactive as the one prescribing vitamins. 🩺 #ProblemManagement #ITSM

Incident Management has 3 jobs: 1️⃣ Detect — know something's broken. 2️⃣ Respond — mobilize the right team. 3️⃣ Restore — get the service back ASAP. Notice 'fix the root cause' isn't on the list — that's Problem Management's job entirely. #IncidentManagement #ITSM

A CMDB (Configuration Management Database) is IT's source of truth — mapping every infrastructure component and how they're all connected. When something breaks, you instantly know what it touches. It's the wiring diagram your IT team has always needed. 🗺️ #CMDB #ConfigurationManagement #ITSM

Where is that server? Who has that laptop? When does that software license expire? ITAM answers all of these — tracking the full lifecycle of your hardware and software assets. Think of it as inventory management, but for IT and with higher stakes. 💻 #ITAM #ITAssetManagement #ITSM

Every IT team delivers services — but do you actually know what's in your catalog, what's being retired, and what's coming next? Service Portfolio Management gives IT leaders full visibility across all services: current, planned, and retired. It's your IT strategy on a page.📊 #ServicePortfolio #ITSM

'It worked fine in dev!' — Famous last words before a Friday deployment took down production. Change Management is the ITSM process ensuring changes are reviewed, tested, approved, and scheduled. So your weekend stays intact. 📋 #ChangeManagement #ITSM

Ever notice the same incident keeps happening? That's not bad luck — that's a Problem waiting to be solved. Problem Management digs into root cause so incidents stop recurring. Fix the symptom once, eliminate the disease forever. 🔍 #ProblemManagement #ITSM

Your prod database just went down. Everyone's panicking. This is exactly why Incident Management exists — a structured process that mobilizes the right people and restores service FAST. No heroics needed, just a clear process. Welcome to ITSM 101. 🚨 #IncidentManagement #ITSM #ITOps #ServiceRestore

So there’s a fight in YOUR house…. You get mad, blame your neighbor who’s just been watching the chaos from afar. You then call the cops on YOUR NEIGHBOR because you blame them for the fight IN YOUR HOUSE! Make it make sense!

Loving the new Apple Journal app. Find myself using it on the phone and on the MacBook Pro everything day. The tie into the mindfulness component and AI Recommended Posts is a bonus to get the through process going. #apple

Outside of war, the Top 3 Presidents (In order) with the highest death rates. 1. Woodrow Wilson ~675,000 2. Donald Trump (45) ~ 400,000 3. Joe Biden ~ 415,000 (batting clean-up)

These **** seriously calling for regime change now, only because of what they are hearing the Iranian people are doing it on their own. Always looking to claim credit.

249 Years. Many in this country believe that somehow the US is more righteous than countries/cultures that have existed for thousands of years. Histories of resiliency in outlasting those who chose to colonize and wipe out their cultures. It's the arrogance for me. Humanity over Borders people!

They all need to get together Off-Site and decide what they want the future of that party to be. IMHO its probably better to re-brand and decide who is going to, or worthy enough to be a true leader for all PEOPLE. Build a blue-print and start building now. Call it Transformation 2028 or whatever.

Make it make sense! The flight was 5 hours delayed because of Newark Shenanigans… and the the Pilot was late, stuck in traffic in Chicago trying to get to the airport! How are you late when the flight is already 5 hours late????
