Day 27 - The Guest (2014). More on the "thriller" side than straight-up horror but 1) the #Halloween theme is on point and 2) it's a fucking great movie. Dan Stevens is incredible in this. It just works on every level for me & has become a Halloween staple. #31DaysOfHorror #October #physicalmedia

Day 26 - Demons 2 (1986). Not as tight & focused as the first but it attempts to go big in several way. A less cool setting but they utilize the size and scope of the new setting. Plus demon dogs, acid blood, elevator shaft shenanigans, Videodrome style TV effects. It's a good time. #31DaysOfHorror

Day 25 - Demons (1985). I feel about Demons the way Marge Simpson feels about potatoes. I just think they're neat. Looks cool, the setting is cool, the music is cool, the concept is cool, and the climax is ridiculous fun. May still watch part 2 tonight. #31DaysOfHorror #horrorsky #physicalmedia

Somewhere in the 90s itโ€™s still Sunday afternoon ๐Ÿ“ผโ˜€๏ธ The street is quiet and the future is just a sci-fi movie. Track 9, โ€œThe Futureโ€, from the upcoming album Neon Airlines. Pre-order link in the reply ๐Ÿ‘‡

Day 24 - The Snow Woman (1968). Beautifully shot and I quite liked the story but I struggled with the pacing. Also, I can't imagine how uncomfortable those thick, golden 1960s contact lenses had to be. They look amazing, though. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horrorsky #filmsky

Day 23 - Messiah of Evil (1974) & Strange Darling (2023). Forgot to post yesterday's #31DaysOfHorror viewing. Enjoyed both very much. Messiah has some stunning lighting & cinematography. Darling is a bit pretentious & I suspect intentionally contentious but stylish & entertaining. #October #horror

Day 22 - Ring 2 (1999). I feel about this similarly to how I feel about Ju-On The Grudge 2. The iconic moments are in the first film but the sequel builds on the concepts in interesting ways and does well at carrying over the same melancholy mood. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror #filmsky

Day 21 - In The Mouth of Madness. Top tier John Carpenter, top tier cosmic horror, and questionable acting that only makes it more memorable. Love this movie. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Day 20 - Weapons (2025). Like this a lot. Gave it 4.5 stars on my first watch. Holds up on a rewatch though some sections drag a little knowing the mystery. Still remains a well shot movie with well written characters and some entertainingly wild sequences. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Day 19 - Silver Bullet (1985). An underrated classic. Part earnest, Amblin-esque film with a solid cast. Part gory horror flick with shades of dark comedy. I've got some nostalgia bias but I do think it holds up as an entertaining and unique werewolf flick. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Day 18 - Devilman - Volume 1: The Birth. Mixing it up with this 1987 anime OVA. This is an insane, fun OVA that takes hard turns into new ridiculous areas every 10 minutes or so. The english dub probably does the source a disservice but god damn is it funny. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Day 16 #2 - Body Bags (1993). This was yesterday's 2nd movie watch but wanted to post it before I post today's watch. John Carpenter was fun as a Cryptkeeper type anthology host & I enjoyed the cameos but the segments themselves were not great. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horrorsky

Day 16 - Ju-on: The Grudge 2. A more focused narrative, doubles down on crazy timelines (kind of crossing into time travel), and really goes off the rails towards the end in the best way. The couple in the apartment may be my favorite segment of the franchise. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horrorsky

Another DVD watch. Arrow has a Ju-On collection blu-ray boxset but it's sadly region B only. Until I either get a region-free player or they do a North American release of the set, this is stuck on DVD for me.

Day 15 - Ju-on: The Grudge. A lot of creepy imagery, dread filled atmosphere, and incredible concepts that are still effective even if some of the scares have dulled over the years (and repeated viewings). #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror #horrorsky

#31DaysOfHorror halfway point. I've been posting one a day here but often I've been watching two. Up to 22 movies this month. Here is the full watchlist so far (titles in the alt text). Not a ton of 1st time viewings but several rewatches I hadn't seen in ages, & 13 of 22 on physical media. #October

Day 14 #2 - Letโ€™s Scare Jessica to Death. I'll be honest, this was a disappointment. It's been mentioned many times as a real hidden gem. It's not bad & has it's moments but the atmosphere didn't enthrall me enough to keep the slow burn from turning into a slog. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horrorsky

Day 14 - John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness. It doesn't get talked about as much as his other classics but this is top tier Carpenter, imo. Looks great, cool concept, solid cast, fantastic atmosphere, and classic Carpenter score. Killer film. #31DaysOfHorror #October #NowWatching #horror

Day 13 - Re-Animator (1985). A demented, campy classic. Watched this movie countless times back in day. Never upgraded this one so I actually dug the old DVD out of the closet. Not HD but totally watchable and that re-agent green case is still cool as fuck. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horrorsky

Day 12 - From Beyond (1986). Love Re-Animator but never got around to From Beyond. While I didn't enjoy it as much but it's still an awesome, wild, weird time. Great cast, appropriately repugnant makeup fx, well shot, and that lighting & color palette. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Day 11 - Village of the Damned (1995). First time rewatching the John Carpenter remake since the 90s. Better than I remember and a serviceable remake. There is a kind of blandness or tameness that pulls this down in Carpenter's body of work. Worth a watch, though. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Day 10 - Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. While the first is my favorite, this is probably the best Evil Dead film. It introduces the ridiculous comedy the original trilogy became known for without sacrificing the horror of the first film. A bloody, silly good time. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Day 9 - Village of the Damned (1960). Great concept and certainly a classic but a bit stuffy in execution. #31DaysOfHorror #October #filmsky #horror

Day 8 - You're Next (2011). Dead Meat has a deal worked out so you can watch this on their youtube channel. A good enough excuse to revisit it. A cool flick that really flies once it kicks into gear. Would make a great double feature w/ Ready or Not. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horrorsky

*Oh, a caveat. Video is likely geolocked but the movie is available a bunch of places including Tubi. Recently picked up Wingard's The Guest on Blu-ray for watching later this month. This would be a good one to own, too.

Day 7 - Fright Night (1985). Iconic 80s vampire flick and a personal favorite. Evil Ed, horror host Peter Vincent, sexy AND monstrous vampires, sweet synth music, melting green goo gore, 80s dance club... it's just sooo cool. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Think I'm going to throw Cyber City Oedo 808 in the horror movie mix this month. Hadn't occurred to me before but you've got a stories about killer corpse tech, cyborg body horror, and a vampire story. Just a straight up vampire... in space. Cyberpunk Halloween!

Day 6. Evil Dead Burn. Good horror film but my least favorite Evil Dead film. The modern films are so dour. A lot of visual and directorial flair that I appreciated, though. #31DaysOfHorror #horror #October

Day 5. Ravenous (1999). First seen this in theaters when it released in '99 & have rewatched it countless times over the years. Glad this picked up a cult following but still an underrated, darkly quirky classic. Goddamn, what a great off-kilter score. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horror

Day 4. Final Destination 3 & The Evil Dead (1981). Evil Dead is such a high effort, stylish debut feature film. I love everything about this film. It is my favorite of the franchise. Watched the 4k transfer (1080p Blu-ray, though, no 4k tv) & it looked fantastic. #31DaysOfHorror #October #horrorsky

Final Destination 3 was okay. It was the film that initially put me off the series. A bit dull but better than I remember and enjoyable enough this time around. I know the next entry is considered the worst but looking forward to 5 and Bloodlines. #October #horror #horrorsky #31DaysOfHorror

"Not Even Death is Sacred" our second album is still coming in Early 2027 - we are shooting for a Jan/Feb release as bass and production finishes up And for now, a very important preview

Day 3. Final Destination 2. The infamous log truck entry. Also always liked this one. It refined the set-up & misdirect Rube Goldberg machine deaths but I will say after having just watched the 1st one, it lacks some personality. Still fun, though. #31DaysOfHorror #horrorsky #October #horror

Day 1 down. Rewatched Final Destination (2000) so it looks like it'll be Final Destination week. They're all a bit dumb but I love the first 2. Bloodlines was good, too, so looking forward to that one. I know what happens in the middle bunch but are less familiar with them. #October #31DaysOfHorror
