i think the big upgrade that the retail models have gotten recently is like the total integration of machine vision and some kind of real runtime environment up there on their cloud "sorry, i don't have your exact version of scribus but i took screenshots and confirmed it looks good on my machine"

yeah, we're way beyond PDF to docx lol i handed claude my dread questionnaire, a bunch of notes on what i thought a space/sports medicine doctor should know, and after a couple of long turns it brought me a complete A5 booklet "pc screen", in Scribus i barely had to fix the moon phases

"we don't need fire, we just need a way to cook our food"

i wrote my answers to the questionnaire, but man, the last year of working with claude has definitely changed my assigned-work style

the START triage across the top of the inner pages is essentially correct. the addition of asking if the scene is safe is maybe claude incorporating things i've talked about from NET training

making the machine design and build a relationship/gossip/information-contagion game engine and getting slapped with a ton of homework just to keep up: Morris's approximate counter? Soviet Setun trinary computer? Heider's balance theory?

"this is the craziest thing you'll ever see" "the craziest thing": a one minute tik tok video of someone talking to their camera and nothing happens

the nokings and 50501 groups taking absolutely the wrong lesson from the instagram lockout a couple weeks back. too much "we need even more discords / accounts / group chats" and not enough "hey maybe don't run unattended spiders out of the admin account and get everyone locked out"

idk why but my brain autocorrects oura ring to nuva ring and it makes everyone's RMA posts momentarily more interesting

fast food (hamburger), fast food (hamburger), fast food (flour tortillas), sit-down (pizza), sit-down (pizza), sit-down (buffet), sit-down (greasy buffet), and the one diner that's been there for 70 years

Peter@notalawyer.bsky.social

a 25 year old could not comprehend how bad the dining options were in the median American town in 1996

full costanza (art vandeley) with an extended reality distortion field. that's it. that's the whole letterboxd review

misheard at the dinner table "oh now [the blazers] are just playing pokemon" that's a commanding lead when you have time to raid a gym

i was wondering why there was such an early commercial break. suns just getting their asses beat lol

and now off a related tangent i'm reading the balzac essay, "Traité des excitants modernes" you can feel the pressured speech and claudisms through the translation lol

ghost malone ergo propter bones@proptermalone.bsky.social

it sounds kind of ridiculous but i think you can make a not entirely facetious case that 1) the industrial revolution and therefore ~modernity is downstream of mass-market stimulants (tea, then tobacco and coffee) and 2) a key impact of stimulants is their effect on specifically certain ND types

regretting the sheer number of bundled-cert runtimes on this machine, something something trying to resist my inner ripley: "i say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit"

this is the first time in a while i've actually put pressure on my five-hour window lol. it's been a day very much of "let's just do all the computer chores we've been putting off forever while we're fixing everything anyways"

so given the php, 4, ssl cert debacle, here i am on the AWS console homepage, and what do i see but a blatant lie and marketing dark pattern on my costs breakdown:

parkrose permaculture angling for the "safe" hard r and generally just feeding all sorts of software, ai, robotics, and data center FUD to her audience is one of those embarrassingly portland things

Go to your camera roll and search "boat" and then post a pic of a boat you like

the people can correctly identify the lack of moral authority (wrt medical billing) but fail to realize that's not the same as the lack of legal authority (no, really, it's a real debt)

i went and saw the movie everyone was talking about and pattinson continues to be the guy doing the most unhinged shit in the best way possible

with getting downtown and corking the march and then doing afters on clinton i put in about 10 miles on the bike today which means it's time to kick back with a drink and watch some perun and/or the poopie show

mlb playing the stock [starcraft?] vidwindow sound effect activating me like a manchurian candidate

hmmmmm.... the claude desktop app happily exfiltrating files wholesale when shell session commands time out on bad configuration is at least a little concerning

(obviously there's always some level of exfiltration if a remote system is reading local files, but "i can copy to my cloud environment and then copy back" is a little different)

if by "moment" you mean decades to centuries, uh... sure

the stylistic choice to write in lowercase is a dead horse that’s been beaten, flogged, and beaten again. and yet, it’s having a moment. wired investigates. www.wired.com/story/the-ca...

my first envelope-pattern pillowcase was nearly a disaster with broken needles and rat's nests every few inches my second envelope-pattern pillowcase went much more smoothly and now i want a rotary cutter and cutting mat

having one of those days where i fill up my NSA profile with fun search queries like "ethyl chloride" or "SCAT6 protocols" or "types of lacerations needing suturing" just normal searches for a normal character for a normal game of Dread, nbd

“I think, and my thoughts cross the barrier into the synapses of the machine—just as the good doctor intended. But what I cannot shake, and what hints at things to come, is that thoughts cross back.”
