One of the things I’ll miss is having access to the BBC’s vast digital library. I’ve loved including its archive in my edits. It’s a reminder of the BBC’s incredible history, which I’m grateful to have been a small part of. May I never lose interest in old idents.

It never ceased to be a joy to be allowed to make content for the telly and online. I hope I’ve turned out some good stuff over the years. I certainly worked hard on a lot of it. There’s been bonkers stuff, too - not least Kirsty Wark’s Thriller dance. What were we thinking??

I’m nothing special, but I like to think my experience and a few technical and creative skills came in handy from time to time. But these are tough times. The BBC is full of talented people who believe in it, despite the wearying onslaught of cuts and criticism. I wish them luck.

Been enjoying this DVD, the final existing-in-some-form DW I didn't own, which I got for my birthday. Some great extras including one of the most well-put-together, imaginative and comprehensive making-of documentaries ever. Peter Purves saying 'bollocks' was not on my bingo card πŸ˜†

SPEED was released 32 years ago today. Acclaimed as one of the great action movies of the β€˜90s, and among the most popular of Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, the story of how it came to the screen never drops below 50… 1/46

Such sad news. Kay was a darling when I went to interview her for The Savages documentary, making sure I had something to eat after my long train journey. "We'll have a sandwich standing by for you." A warm and wonderful lady.

Kay Patrick was a lovely, kind, intelligent woman who managed to act in two Doctor Whos, direct nearly 300 Coronation Streets and write a book! She also generously gave me a couple of otherwise lost photos from The Savages we can now all enjoy thanks to her. So sad that she has died: RIP Kay ❀️

Wonderful news and a joy to see my timeline so full of excitement about it. It was a pessimistic Peter Purves I interviewed for The Savages doc when I raised the prospect of recovering more eps. Delighted for him. Thanks so much @filmisfabulous.bsky.social

Remembering/Forgetting the Savages is the best Doctor Who physical media extras I've seen in years. Far better than the actual story. Kudos to @0tralala.bsky.social, @tobyhadoke.bsky.social, and everyone involved.

Remembering Forgetting The Savages is one of the very best extras in the Doctor Who Blu-ray range. Somehow, they’ve managed to do a feature length documentary about a missing, half-remembered (at best) story, and turned it into something really quite wonderful.

Thanks Jon. So glad people seem to like it. Wonderful contributions from @0tralala.bsky.social, @nothinglane.bsky.social, @drtauk.bsky.social, @markayresrws.bsky.social, Gav Rymill, Marcus Hearn and others. And of course the ever wise and watchable @tobyhadoke.bsky.social.

In a highly crowded field I'm struggling to think of a Doctor Who documentary I enjoyed more than @stuartdenman.bsky.social's Remembering/Forgetting The Savages. Excellent content, magnificent context, delightful graphics.
