RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Fell asleep listening to the Golden Fleece and dreamt I was on a quest to find it! I was miniaturised for some reason. Yet I could fly. Horses featured. I suspect this dream was aided by indegestion.

After listening to Robert Graves The Golden Fleece I feel it may be wise to worship the triple goddess. I believe Hecate could be her, it's quite confusing. I don't fancy all that sacrificing animals stuff. Would she like a libation, maybe? Thing is, you worship one, you upset another!

Musk said he restricted Starlink in Ukraine- causing fast moving drones to lose connectivity - and that he had every right to do so because of some terms of service or contract that he didn't show us. (He didn't address suddenly doing this with no warning to Kyiv.) www.cnbc.com/2026/10/24/u...

simmered on the hob 30 mins, added half a can of coconut milk (i thought too much at first) heated that for a bit. Ate with wholemeal bread. Must've hit at least 2 of my 5 veg a day. Oh, there was half a pint of beer in it too. One knife cut, no burns, minimum spillages, most things washed already

My soup was delicious. 80%ish flesh of one Uchiki Kuri squash, only harvested days ago one onion, a tin of carrots (not grown my own this year) pepper, salt, curry powder, mild chili powder, a litre of chicken stock, done on top of the hob after roasting the squash, badly for 30 mins.

Well, I've irrigated the wound on my thumb and will taken greater care when slicing uchiki kuri (red Japanese) squash in future. It was a sure thing as soon as I had the idea of cooking whilst tipsy.

Something befell my little finger during my mission of mercy #missionofmercy to the chickens in the storm today. Something unknown ,yet sharp, went under my nail. My wish is that others are aware of this if, they too, go outdoors to give chickens cold-weather treats.

I have not neglected my feathered friends - they have had half a dozen large fat balls created. My simple recipe - beef dripping, blended sunflower hearts, very hot chili powder (might keep the squirrel off, yet I doubt it. Birds are immune to capiscids. I used to add some herbs and diatom.

The beer is in, some ingredients have found their way onto the floor. The squash is being roasted in the oven, the rest of it is simmering on the hob to speed things up. Needless to add, I am a single gentleman.

Not enough attention is paid to slightly drunken-cooking. Floyd had a good go, yet I fear it's not promoted as much these days. I'm making a uchiki kuri and other veg + coconut milk soup. ON diet coke with a little Canadian Club whisky. Beer will follow, with some of that going in the soup too.

3 eggs from 7 chickens is not an oeuf as my estranged younger brother would have me say. How can I supply my elderly friends with such production?

Blustery at the allotment, but dry. I used to love the challenge of seeing to my stock in those conditions, not so much now Also, 3 dalek lids had flown off, I put most back, yet forget the bricks so they're no doubt off again now. And people in Ukraine think they have it bad! Slava Ukraine!

Oh man - you know that feeling where you've squashed your shoes under 10 kg blocks of coir? I moved them last night - one handed - and they were resting on my wet boots.

I'm OK for water - I dug a big hole in the back garden, filled it with the hosepipe and covered it up again. If ever I'm short, I simply uncover it and voila! lovely clean, fresh water. Ha!

I took a deep-dive into reservoirs, their construction and potential locations. It was a wild ride. Everyone should take it, as they will be more informed and maybe waste less water.

For years now I've been checking the level of a local(ish) reservoir. We get a lot of our water from groundwater, and we've been OK. They have changed their system of getting the info out, and it's put a crimp in me telling folk we're not suffering from drought.

When me, Mary Beard and Edith Hall go on our all expenses paid tour of Italy and Greece next summer, all this wind and rain will be a distant memory. I'm going to send so may postcards! I hope the gals won't want to go clubbing every night, you know what these celebrities can be like.

Yesterday a flat piece of twin ply polycarb flew off my plot, I hope it's flown back as that was to be the lid for one of my compost daleks. #haveyouseenmytwinplypolysheet

This happens almost every day. I've been feeding the birds down there for many years. 'Tufty the Christmas Robin' was one of my favourites, it would land on my hand. I told two little girls about him, one is at Oxford now I think. I clean their feeding area and I hear greenfinches so they're ok.

When I go to my plot a robin (I'm assuming it must be the same one) follows me up the path to my shed, into the lean-to and has it's daily sunflower hearts. A squirrel has taken note and that pops along and scoffs the lot, so I have to put another few out so the robin gets some.

I recall being in a National Express coach that was blown across the M1 in terrific winds - from inside to fast lane in one gust. The driver got a lot of thanks when we alighted. It was night time too. #talesofsurvival

Maybe #starlink was throttled for some #midterms reason? Trump has tried to extort political favours before from Ukraine. Is it possible Russia will produce something in return?

Meanwhile I've #stockpiled tinned Irish Stew (for a dinner next week I imagine). I wish I'd bought lots of decent chocolate from #Cadburys before they knackered the recipe. I've been trying other choc, so Cadburys is losing out.

Who cares about any of the #royals these days? A storm in the south affecting millions and the BBC News website leads with a second tier non-royal's family drama?!?

We've a storm coming later this week, I bet I clean again. Thing is I don't like to throw too much away as something important might be lost. Also, something of sentimental value. If I didn't have thousands of books it might help. I only listen to audiobooks now, seemingly.

I cleared up again today! Sorted my potatoes, spilled piles of them and soil on the floor, then swept, hoovered and mopped up the kitchen. The fact that I'm trumpeting this achievement tells you the state of my home. Though it is slightly cleaner now.
