You know, i really understand Gandalf's frustration. He's always seen as a bring of ill tidings. but like, bro. Homie literally out here looking out. Why the hostility to friendly warnings and suggestions to not fuck up the kingdom

For anyone thinking Trumps economic plans make any fucking sense, go read Making Miney by Terry Pratchett. Trade makes the Turtle swim, as it were. Not engaing in trade creates stagnation and mistrust in the banking systems because the WORTH being generated is being artificially gated.

Hot take: Gender expression and sexuality should be treated like cat colors like "oh boy. There goes a Chaotic Bisexual™, i hope he has the braincell right now." Or "careful on the aloof pansexual, if you try to touch them before they're ready they'll maul your hand."

Paying 5000$ to the citizenry upon ascension was a classic move in Imperial Rome to sway popular opinion toward the Emperors priority. It was how Ceasar kept the Senate off of his back. Nearly everyone from Tiberius onward did donatives to the military leadership. We're in 45BCE. Watch it unfold.

I think i have a plan in how long term peace in earth might be acheived, but i'm not a trillionaire so i can't actually do anything to even test the waters. Wild what rich people do instead of just making life better.

Found a personal bias i hadn't noticed until now: I don't trust thin politicians. Gimme a dude that looks like he knows how to sit down at the function and be friendly at the table. Not the guy that makes 3 plates at a time, but the guy who gets seconds and takes a plate home. 3 Plate Politician

Any eccentric billionaires who think they have a master plan or plot to be villainous for the 'good of the world', I'm currently open to being hired as Henchman, as long as there is upward mobility within your organazation.

Woke up feeling a bit maudlin. When i was a kid my teachers would talk about how i would be an adult at the 250th birthday, that it would be amazing. I thought we would be celebrating our unity, and our differences. Because that's what i was taught that America was. Instead... *vague gesture*

March 9: "We're now totally independent of the Middle East. We don't need their oil." April 1: "It doesn't really affect us. We have so much oil, much more than we need." June 17: If I didn't agree to the MOU, we "would run out of reserves at about 4 weeks..."

Yesterday Donald compared himself to Elvis Presley, who famously died on the toilet. But he’s also building a bunker, which is where Hitler ultimately took his own life. I like a show that keeps us guessing as to how it will end.

My current conspiracy theory: Trump is playing up the cognitive test and mental slippage act so that when he's brought to trial he'll be ruled incompetent and end up in a luxury care facility for a while until he escapes to russia when media coverage dies down.

Once again, i feel the need to reiterate: We live in a society. There are rules. We must not fall into anarchy. Which also means we must defend the society we live in from those who would abuse it and those who live in it.

Yesterday, my next door neighbors needed to borrow my lawnmower. I said of course, and then chatted with them for 3 hours. It comes up that it was my husbands 30th birthday. They immediately ask for his favorite cake flavor. Today, she delivered an entire cake. Get to know your neighbors, people.

Not the really high, creative loathsomeness of the great sinners, but a sort of mass-produced darkness of the soul. Sin, you might say, without a trace of originality. They accept evil not because they say yes, but because they don't say no. - Guards! Guards! By Terry Pratchett

CBS gave one of their smartest and most outspoken comedians ten months to say whatever he wants without getting cancelled.

Don't what why people think these children in Texas dying in the floods will change the GOP stance on weather forecasting funding or climate change. Kids have been getting shot in classrooms for years and they only shrug and hug their firearms.
