I'm super proud that we get to open source the thing I've been working on almost exclusively for the last 6+ years.

This person has more passion about educating kids in science than I have ever experienced. Everyone needs a tote bag, or has a young relative who needs a cool advent calendar, or wants to wear a great T-shirt that starts conversations that could get you laid. This is the cause you need to support.

Oh good another grant rejection. We have applied for 7 grants so far this year, with a bunch more we’ll be applying for this fall. We’ve been rejected by 6, and got runner up for 1 of them, resulting in $1000. Our annual operating budget is 250k. Oh wait that reminds me. Anybody need a tote bag??

It's funny that the NFL has helmets with extra protection, but you only get to wear one after you've already gotten a brain injury

Maybe you are excited about GTA6 and maybe you aren't, but it will likely be a cultural monument in at least the following way: there will probably never be a cultural artifact of this size and scale made without genAI slop in it again

USPS says that it is currently in my mailbox. It isn't. Amazon's like yeah we know they lie it might teo more days after they say it is your mailbox. Which is 100% accurate. How is it that the USPS can just lie about deliveries like this? This is a $300 item I'm waiting for...

My sister recently had luck going to the post office demanding the item they had claimed to be delivered already and they said she couldn't have it because it was out for delivery, and she refused to leave and they got her package out of a truck parked out back

The actual underlying issue here is that at this rural Maine address they have not been able to hore enough postal carriers to make it to our mailboxes more than a couple of times a week. But I dont understand why they would mark those packages as delivered to the customers mailbox...

This postmaster just marks stuff as delivered when she gets it, not when its delivered. Everyone knows this and just says yeah and she's and she's an unhappy asshole about all of it too

I'm on the latest episode of the urban gardening podcast Gritty and Green talking about native plants, the biodiversity crisis, and the importance of jumping in and getting started. The bugs need you! Check it out wherever you get your podcasts!

conversation I literally had yesterday: "Which color are we?", "Uh, we're the red and white stripes with blue accents, not the yellow team". 😂

This pool is the most Pro-Life thing this administration has ever done. LOOK HOW GREEN THAT IS. It looks like the pool is filled with melted green otter pops.

HAHAHAhaha! they're making the world's biggest synthetic scum pond!!! The coating is a polyurea used inside pipes. It gels in about 3 seconds, making it non self-leveling. The texture is like an orange peel, the perfect substrate for biofilms. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/19/u...

got some native lupine seeds which should host Karner Blue butterfly. If they work, we'll start pulling all the non-native lupines on this island. I really feel like I've seen this butterfly here which means it comes here to die and maybe I can fix that?

there is lupine all over the place here but its all a European invasive species that is choking out the one that hosts a critically endangered butterfly!!

Sometimes you gotta remember among mixed company that, yeah, this playlist is going to hit "Wham Rap" at some point, and my company might not be ready for what happens when the "Boys from Wham help me reach that goal" spontaneously

I love the fucking irony of someone that tries to say something like "I bought this tesla before I knew Elon was… whatever". Because that means what? you are holding on to this asset for what reason? Because its not the right time to sell? waiting for the used car to appreciate?

like I get that not everybody can just get a new car on a whim. But if you are selling articles to huffpost, you can probably make sure you aren't wearing a nazi hat every couple of years

and it's not like you have to be like "shit I just found out that my tattoo is a totenkopf an now I'm going to have to get it laser removed". You just have to call fucking carvana

Like, "hey did you know that that symbol on your hat is a nazi symbol" "yeah, but the hat still keeps the sun out of my face. I'll keep it in mind for my next hat purchase though"

so now basically if I want to say, create a unison library that talks to anything covered by context7. I can create the library in a few minutes, and then spend hours trying to figure out how to sign up for API keys to validate that it does actually work

I've done this potato rosemary onion one a couple of times now. Trick seems to be salting the VERY THIN potato slices to get some moisture out of them ahead of time before coating them with salty oil, and they can use a few minutes under the broiler to finish them off at the end
