I support @Podnews with an annual "donation" because I get so much from their week-day updates. There is no single source I can think of that provides me a larger scope of what's happening in the podcast industry than James Cridland (and team?) at Podnews. www.patreon.com/podnews

Last month I broke the rules: I did a solo episode for Mastermind show, "10 Ways to Get Leads and Land Clients" Most of the 10 items you can guess. #6 is not my favorite, but can work. #7 "Offer something others don't" is the secret to success. 🎧 podcasteditorsmastermind.com/episode/10-w...

❤️ this line from Lex Friedman - talking about the Apple update that caused many to think they lost listeners: "Apple stopped downloading new episodes when people weren’t listening to episodes, so total downloads decreased. Total listening, of course, didn’t." lexontech.org/what-freakon...

lexontech.orgWhat Freakonomics gets right (and wrong) about podcast moneyThere’s money to be made in podcasting. It’s getting harder, though — at least for some podcasters. But while you may listen to podcasts, you might not be as familiar with the business side of…

Not only is it sweater-weather - it's "don't touch that door handle" season. I'm surprised my computer is still working. Sometimes the static arc makes a loud "snap" - and it is both literally and figuratively shocking!

When it comes to growing wealth, begin with concentration first. Then diversify later. Concentrate by: 1. Focusing on earning money or growing a business 2. Spending wisely (and saving) 3. Investing in 1-3 funds Then diversify to protect it. Don't complicate things until you have wealth.

Making a lot of money doesn't bring happiness... because there are lots of young people working hard to earn, invest, and save enough money that they can quit their high-paying job for a lower salary or entrepreneurial endeavor. Would you take a lower-paying job to be happier?

When I went self-employed in 2016, I let go of the company car and purchased a 1998 Honda Civic for $3,400. Today I could buy a new iPhone Duo with 2TB storage for roughly the same amount. Which one would last longer though? ('98 Civics are still all over the place, btw).

Does this happen to you? You can't find something. You look everywhere. You put resources behind the search (time, money, sweat)...still nothing. As soon as you give up - either stop looking or begin to ask someone for help and #BAMM! There it is, right behind them. Just me?

How could one person's personal disaster help millions of people? On 9/23/88, Dave Ramsey filed for bankruptcy 💸 Instead of blaming the banks or the government, he changed his mindset and started helping others - laying a path for millions of others to follow. Happy Bankruptcy Anniversary Dave! 🥳

A HUGE difference between what a studio editor/engineer would do and a Podcast Editor: A studio engineer would never have to edit a "d" or "t" sound at the end of words spoken by a podcaster who is getting over a head cold. You know what I mean.

It's not too late to join me and other #moneynerds at #FinCon26 next week. We will be in Palm Springs, CA talking content creation, audience growth, and even recording podcasts all three days. Get $50 off using coupon code STEVE50 at checkout (you know the URL)

If a podcaster chooses to monetize with ads, I recommend they look at it with this as the foundation of their thought process: “Don’t sell your audience to a sponsor. Sell a sponsor on your audience.”™ Finding sponsors takes more time/effort than programmatic ads, but pays more in the long run.

IT'S NOT EVEN MY SHOW! I've always received guest pitches for my shows...shows that had been retired for more than 10 years, etc. Now I have people pitching FOR A PODCAST THAT ISN'T MINE (and not a client either). Here is one for The Audacity to Podcast by Daniel J Lewis - who never has guests.
