... I did it... I bought the EP-35 and I added the EP–133 sampler. I feel slightly sick but also very happy.

I'm never far from cracking and spending my life's savings on the entire Teenage Engineering range. The hands on that particular clock just hit 2 minutes to midnight with their new amp: www.musicradar.com/music-tech/t...

I guess how everyone feels about AI in Literature and English now is how I felt learning just how much music was composed with sample libraries and MIDI programming as an undergrad. There are essentially no big scores in film that are not created this way in 2026.

I’m floating a bill myself. All pink wafer biscuits in the global north default to me. In cases where 50-ish people might be maimed for want of a pink wafer they can have ONE biscuit.

Anthropic floats a sample bill. It would allow the gov’t to block a model that has a “foreseeable, imminent risk of more than $1 billion in damages, or of killing or seriously injuring more than 50 people” www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

If you told me I’d be redownloading Mapquest in 2026 to try to stay ahead of the surveillance state I wouldn’t have believed you

The Roads Have Eyes! 👁️ Turn on the Surveillance Layer in Map Options to see known license plate readers from Flock Safety, Motorola Solutions (Vigilant), Genetec, Axis Communications, Axon, Leonardo (ELSAG), Neology, Rekor, PlateSmart, Ubicquia, Verkada, and other outdoor surveillance cameras.

Spend a lot of time thinking about how audio technologies could do more than just music Recently designed a system to help monitor soil moisture during manual irrigation. It's a first small step towards addressing water scarcity challenges with the help of sound. doi.org/10.1017/wat....

What’s really interesting about this citation is that Dermot and I never wrote a book together, though maybe we should have, and this reference is in fact completely hallucinated by genAI.

Kind of crazy watching how sound studies and music technology are being completely subsumed into digital humanities in recent years. I’m seeing increasing numbers of colleagues re-emerge in DH depts. and contexts as these formations start to disappear from academia

New @thewiremagazine.bsky.social! I had the great pleasure of interviewing Bruno Silva, whose Ondness and Serpente records are some of my favourite music of recent years. I also wrote an essay on the metal subculture in 2026 and reviewed new albums by BBBBBBB 🥵 and Jesse Draxler 🖤.

It is increasingly plausible that the Pope has read my work on AI art. There isn’t a huge number of us doing this stuff on the art front, even less on music and digital art. We may be mere weeks away from an in-text citation for Roddy 2026 from the Vatican. thenextweb.com/news/pope-ai...

I think the entire public sector slowly grinding to a halt because the minster for public expenditure wants to burnish his hard man credentials for an upcoming leadership bid should be more of a scandal/news story tbh #speirgorm

They’ve been aggressively uncool for a while now but the boomer-brain Jetsons-level AI discourse is undignified in the extreme.

Democracy Now! has now gone from constantly inviting Max Tegmark to platforming people from none other than MIRI. That's right MIRI. Y'all know how bad that is? Do you understand the level to which they are doubling down on the eugenicists?

Lads. I told ye she’s gone off the deep end. Ive been writing about it for a while now. She went so far off the deep end it helped myself and some colleagues structure a beautifully elegant alternative. It started as a rebuttal but is a far more valuable than just more critique. Watch this space:

Worth following: publishers are incorrectly claiming payouts on the Anthropic lawsuit, like claiming 100%, or even claiming titles that are reverted/out of print. If you're an author, assuming you already made a claim (that deadline was March), check now -- there's still time to dispute this.
