My instinct is always to hold as much as possible back until the final video is done, but I'm not sure that actually helps me lol So here's a fun shot I animated tonight #indieanimation

Youtube: We see you've hyperfixated on this topic for a while. Would you like to never see anything else ever again? (I spend half an hour hitting "not interested" on videos) Youtube: ...Are you SURE?

"Breaking News: Trump is a sex criminal who actively participated in Epstein's crimes" Surely most of us know this by now, but I guess I'm glad we're still finding ways to remind people.

Also: this behavior should be seen as political weakness. Democrats constantly allow the GOP to set the tone on issues, and it just makes them look fucking pathetic. This isn't a movement voters are demanding, it's one the GOP have been attempting to manufacture.

the handful of die-hard anti-trans voters that exist are going to vote GOP no matter what. so this ad will not pick up a single new voter. all it does is further disenfranchise trans ppl – a marginalized group MAGA hates. this is a pro-MAGA ad & Turek is furthering MAGA's cause by airing it

If they knew how to say my last name correctly that'd be lowkey a little scary, they'd have to specifically know who I am or know a family member. I'm not sure I've said my surname in videos much.

Every Democrat politician who runs an ad targeting trans people forces us to consider whether they need to lose in order to make it clear that human rights are not negotiable. Nobody running those ads opposes fascism, they simply want their party to be doing it.

I think people intuitively understand that democratic candidates tossing trans kids to the wolves is not only morally repugnant but also politically ineffective, otherwise they wouldn't freak out every time someone said they weren't voting for a democrat who did this

I've genuinely started to wonder if KH4 is going to reveal that the entirely of the mainline Kingdom Hearts games up to this point have taken place in a pocket universe within the "REAL" universe that Sora has now arrived in. Wildly: there is established precedent for this.

We've seen multiple characters that we know to be straight-up dead show up in the trailers, which has led to this thought. The universe we've known up to this point could be the one that was created to keep the Dandelions safe. And when you "die" you simply get ejected into the original world.

That said, in Kingdom Hearts the moral will always be: "nobody is truly less of a person than anyone else." Therefore no world is ultimately less real than any other, regardless of their origins.

Essentially a way to hit the "reset" button without actually undoing anything that's happened so far. It would also tie into that really weird plot point in the Toy Story section of KH3 where something like this had happened. Also it thematically wouldn't even be out of left field for the series.

I feel like MGSV did a terribly poor job of communicating the benefits of playing as other soldiers. I just had the thought of "shouldn't playing as other soldiers raise their stats or something, that'd give more incentive" and then went to look it up. 11 years later I've learned you can do that.

I also only found this out because of the dozens of threads of people asking "why would we use this feature" and other players having to explain that this mechanic exists.

This isn't the point, but boy do I hate looking at how busy that GenAI comic is. Everything is demanding focus, there's no sense of flow between panels, there's just no intentionality to anything and it overwhelms the eye.

I can't believe he's still at it, it's been days

I'm not a great comic artist, but seeing stuff like that really draws into sharp focus all the stuff you need to consider when creating sequential art both consciously and subconsciously.

I looked it up a little while ago and the Japanese version is slightly better because the background singing is actually on-tempo. But it is still the same song, unfortunately.

The tools to create films and animation have never been more accessible. The "industry standard" tools are expensive as hell, but frankly they won't remain industry standards for that very reason. Blender is already becoming standard while remaining 100% free.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

I'm almost entirely self-taught as an artist, and I owe what skill I have to accessible tools and the internet having resources for learning essentially any skill in existence.

Weirdly consistent thing happens every time I go to a function with many people where I can feel fine in the moment and nothing bad happens, but the next day I WILL be way more anxious than normal anyway lol

Even considering that's the cost of a decent GPU right now, you can just have a cheaper one and turn the settings down on PC games lol And nowadays the quality difference is probably negligible, nobody really needs raycast reflections on every single material with specular shading

Sorry still thinking of $1,200-$1,800 dollar console just conceptually. Those are Real Computer numbers. You can just get a real computer for that kinda cash. The entire premise of the console is “this is a baby computer you don’t control but it’s standardized and affordable” but they can’t do that.

I was shocked to learn that other DMs apparently plan out potential outcomes to situations. I kinda just set up situations I think are interesting and start riffing once players interact with them.

Btw I hope this doesn't come off as trying to brag, I genuinely start wondering if I'm doing something wrong if other people all seem to be doing something else lol Even if it's been working so far

The entire Metal Gear saga has an obsession with doubles and attempted copies. Everyone who attempts to produce a copy of someone else fails, and the series has an overarching thread of good people never trying to control others. Themes and stuff.

Sometimes I think about how important the mobile games are to Kingdom Hearts lore and how crucial they'll be to understanding KH4 and ask: "Why, Nomura? Why are you like this?" It's genuinely so important to understanding the entire series. They gotta make something to retell that stuff, right??

Casual reminder to Democrat politicians that even the majority of conservative voters don't really seem motivated to vote based on hating trans people. And if they did they certainly wouldn't vote for you. So all you do in opposing trans rights is lose voters.

They're really just completely reactionary. "Republicans are claiming we're gonna trans everybody's kids! Surely we must combat this claim!" You really don't. Nobody normal thinks that's true. You're worried about the opinions of people who would sooner die than vote for you.

Every time I open the Patreon app I have to re-learn how to actually see the feed I'm interested in. Which is to say: the one I'm literally paying to see.

It's so wild to me for people who provably at some point cared about art to be like "the future is not doing the art." Actual advancements did stuff like reduce tedium or offer lower-cost pathways for people to learn filmmaking or animation or whatever else.

Clay Griffith@claygriffith.bsky.social

Sad, but it doesn't have to be inevitable. This isn't an advancement in film like talkies or color that audiences demanded. Audiences don't demand AI. They just demand a good movie. AI isn't about making good movies; it's just about making more money with less skill. #movies #scriptsky

"The future of art is paying someone to come up with the arbitrary combination of keywords to produce something kinda close to what you wanted after a hundred different attempts, and also poisoning a small town's water supply as they do it!"

I'll always disagree with the assertion that they had to plan all three films out. That's one way to do it, but not the only way. Their experiment of "new director per film" was completely viable, but they gave up on it at the finish line in order to meet an arbitrary deadline set by Bob Iger.

ToonGrin.com@toongrin.bsky.social

I feel the whole after the purchase was a rush job. Logically one would believe you'd sit-down and structure 3 films by having a conversation on the structure, themes, and goal. Speaking as a person who liked 2/3rds of the trilogy... they ain't storytellin' they is product churnin'.

Trevorrow's film wouldn't have been as good as the first two, but it certainly would have been more interesting than what we got. I say this as somebody who has never unironically liked any Trevorrow film I've seen.
