Can you imagine spending the remainder of your life cooped up in a decaying bunker with these dork-ass losers?

Josh Sternberg@joshsternberg.com

This is where the 1% will go to restart civilization after a nuclear attack. But it for me thinking: what if the uber wealthy built these bunkers for more people — and not for nuclear attacks but for the climate crisis that will get us all — instead of trying to leave the planet?

This girl I used to waitress with in Austin, we moved to New York together in 2003 on a literal Greyhound bus. Shared a fifth floor walk-up studio that, when it rained, had more leaks in the ceiling than we had pots and pans. We used to get drunk and smoke off the fire escape and do “sad-offs.”

They are jealous of the things creatives can make and rather than make themselves more worthy, they are destroying the concept of talent so they can own just one more thing.

soooo this is going to be a post that makes absolutely everyone unhappy: black bloc is a part of diversity of tactics handknit pussy hats are part of a diversity of tactics voting is a part of diversity of tactics

Interesting thread, appreciate it. One area that I am not sure is addressed is that at least in certain parts of America we do have 'black bloc' wannabes that will co-opt these demonstrations with their own extreme goals and methods. Protecting against that takes a lot more than 'social conformity.'

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

There’s a certain point where virtually everyone I have ever met transitions from using the phone like a normal person to going speaker-only at full volume regardless of venue. Maybe when I hit that particular age I’ll understand why.

Miles Dyson immediately flipping and agreeing to help destroy his AI creation after hearing what it would do to the world was, it turns out, the most cartoonishly unrealistic part of T2.

Ruin the wealth class’s day and turn Black Friday into a day of reflection on your consumer habits and ask yourself what it is that you buy that makes you truly happy and what is it that you buy because you’ve been conditioned.

Perfection.

Hi everyone. The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars. We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website. We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off. I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.

The information landscape is profoundly fragmented. Our complaints about Fox News don’t even scratch the surface of the layers and layers of conspiracy and misinformation and independent punditry that’s actually out there and impacting people’s beliefs about the world.

This is the GOP long game at work. By hamstringing budgets, they've prevented Dems from keeping promises to help people and eroded the effectiveness of many existing public programs. This fuels resentment toward Democrats, since they're the ones claiming government is good. 1/

I just opened Threads after like a week of ignoring it and WOW that place sucks. Clickbait anecdotes, engagement bait hot takes, and a million miserable ding-dongs starting a million petty rows. Deleted!

The smiles on people holding these signs are nightmarish and a potent reminder of how easy it is for some people to accept and participate in acts of evil if their own tribe provides them with a sense of superiority and belonging.

This is one of those moments when right wing media is locked in back rooms frantically cobbling together its messaging, meanwhile your MAGA uncle is sputtering and turning purple without any talking points to regurgitate.

This is the longer version of the thing I was trying to say, which still is by no means everything I have to say in any direction. Do not try to infer or assume based on what I haven't said. You can ask me questions if you'd like to know. I will answer if I have the energy and am in the mood.
