Depicted: Traffic signals' poles in Magog (QC), Utrecht (NL), Helsinki (FI), and Stockholm (SE). In case you're still wondering why traffic signals have become so expensive to build in Québec.

« The bottom line is that the AI story will be decided in the S&P 493, not the Mag 7, and so far, there is no evidence that revenue growth or margins are improving outside the tech sector. »

This analyst's report from Apollo about AI uses the term "S&P 493" to refer to the "S&P 500 minus the Mag 7" - because if you take out the AI companies, the S&P 500 is tanking. www.apollo.com/wealth/insig...

There is so much bait-and-switch in Canada’s “digital sovereignty“ (heh) strategy. Bottom line is that building out massive polluting AI data centres to host US tech companies is a form of digital colonialism: they control the tech & the profits, and export the dirtiest, lowest-value part abroad.

What would happen if you took a stock market bubble bigger than the dot-com bubble and combined it with a pile of risky debt bigger than the one that caused the 2008 financial crisis? You'd get something that looks a lot like the AI bubble we have today. www.openmarketsinstitute.org/publications...

I’m sorry to have to be the bad guy here but we need to recognize that we live in a compressed air thrusters world now. C’est ça le programme du PCQ: capturer l’attention des médias pour orienter le débat sur leurs idées. Évidemment, les médias tombent dans le panneau tellement facilement. Trump fait la même chose.

Phew, Democrats are just going to apply “logical” and “smart” tariffs to goods made in Canada.

FactPost@factpostnews.bsky.social

Q: What is a tariff on Canada that you would keep? Abdul El-Sayed: One that is actually logical, unlike any of what Donald Trump has done in office. We should do what the UAW has advocated for, smart tariffs to protect our market.
