Mike Sterling ⭐️⭐️

Hey all, I'm Mike - a Technical Program Manager on the Xbox Platform engineering team. We're responsible for the operating system that powers the Xbox console. When I'm not making gaming better, I'm building Lego, exploring 3D printing, or playing with my dogs.

Every October we kick off the Giving Campaign at work, where we volunteer time and resources to support our favorite charities. This year, I'm raising money to donate GO Karts from Gamers Outreach to the children's hospital which serves the community where I grew up. Any support is much appreciated.

We had a good walk.

Great to see this finally go live. news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/0...

Peak gaming prowess. #xbox

One does not simply outgrow arcade games

The races this weekend down in Portland have been absolutely amazing. So cool to see all of this in person.

Well, the trip for the Portland Grand Prix has been eventful (train replaced by bus), but I made it down here, checked in at the hotel, and now it's off to the track.

Vacation mindset.

Fuck cancer, especially canine cancer. (Not mine, thankfully, but someone close.)

Curious to see what next week brings. Whatever it is, can't be much worse than this past week. Refocusing all weekend with the dogs.

Today was one of the worst days of my professional career. Seeing so many people be impacted with job cuts on Team Xbox through no fault of their own is both maddening and incredibly sad. If anyone is reading this that I haven't spoken with, please reach out.

Bad day. Bad, bad day.

It's the third of July, not the fourth - so why are the fireworks going already? Cordi's cowering upstairs in the room of white noise.

Playtime.

Should have stayed in Austin. Late flight, bags lost. Thanks for nothing #Delta

Delayed 2 hours in Austin airport. Oh well.

I have to give Ziply Fiber a ton of credit for timely handling of disruptions. While it's not great that I've had to call for support twice, both times they've had a tech out within 24h to fix the problem.

Completely gutted at the news of the end of #KnowledgeFight. My favorite podcast of all time and it's not even close. Makes the memories I have with my son from the live recording in Portland. Still can't believe that Nancy picked it up and gets all the references.

Easy to tell when the fiber kicked in.

Fiber internet is a game changer. Getting this kind of speed at home....in the country.

Another day inside a conference room in a city that isn't my own.

When in Texas, one must eat BBQ. Pork ribs, smoked turkey, mac, and pinto beans. Washed down with a bottle of Shiner.

Time to head to Austin.

Finally have the chance to see MJF. And yes, he's better than me - and I know it.

I don't know if I'll ever get tired of watching the 3D printer do its thing.

Love this yard, Maryvale is one of the best places to watch a ballgame, even if it's 103.

Evening baseball in Arizona.

The airport at 6AM is an interesting experience.

Had a scare that I lost a 22TB array of homelab data. Luckily was able to recover it.

Handheld retro gaming on a FPGA based system is amazing.

Happy birthday, kid.

Whelp. www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/ph... Feeling pretty fuckin' down right now.

Enjoying the end of summer.

Rowan, that crazy girl.

Typical Seattle summer.

Updated my Pixel 9 Pro to the 10 XL. My eyes appreciate it.

It's a great day for some Sounders football. #EBFG #BoomBoomClap

These three.

Terrible day today. Layoffs have impacted so many good, talented people.

Happy Gotcha Day, kiddo.

I love watching my printer do its thing. Printing up 1U blanking plates for my rack.

The apple tree is in bloom.

Ball is life.

Here's my dog because the world sucks right now.
