America’s Compact is an alternative to the Department of Education's Compact 2.0, the latest of the Department’s attempts to insert ideological control at U.S. universities.

The U.S. is the only major economy where planet-warming pollution has increased dramatically in the last year.

Those policies have made the U.S. an outlier when it comes to escalating greenhouse gas emissions, says Inger Andersen, the executive director of the U.N. Environment Programme.

The U.S. is the only major economy where planet-warming pollution has increased dramatically in the last year.

U.S. emissions grew because of increased electricity demand, as well as Trump administration policies that support the burning of fossil fuels.

The Trump administration has ordered coal-fired power plants in the U.S. to stay open longer than planned, rolled back fuel-efficiency standards for vehicles & ended tax credits for solar & wind projects.

Stand Up for Science is proud to endorse Kristina Knickerbocker, running in Ohio’s 10th Congressional District. This endorsement recognizes Knickerbocker’s commitment to protecting public health and research, defending evidence-based policymaking, and pushing for government accountability.

In addition to creating fewer funding opportunities for researchers, the NSF’s decision to roll this much money into the next fiscal year could affect the agency’s budget going forward. Every cut can have ripple effects that last for years.

The NSF awarded 6,238 grants in fiscal 2026 and around 8,650 in fiscal 2025, compared with an average of 11,387 grants awarded annually between fiscal 2021 and fiscal 2024.

The decrease in awarded grants can be seen across nearly all the agency’s directorates, despite Congress prohibiting the NSF from cutting any directorate’s budget by more than 5% compared with fiscal 2024 in the latest spending bill. “There’s just way less out there for researchers."
