How I interprete myself when I offer minor revision suggestions for strong manuscripts: 😀 How I perceive the anonymous reviewers who provided constructive minor revisions feedback for my manuscript: 👹

Very excited about this first episode with @sameyler.bsky.social! We have plans for many more, and I have a feeling this show will be a fascinating adventure that will bring a ton of value to my fellow economists. Give it a listen wherever you get your podcasts, and let us know what you think!

I know that correlation is not causation, but all the good top 5 that are coming out seem to be copyedited by @standarderror.bsky.social Just saying

The best part of #science is the #process. In this case, it was spending some years learning from my smarter, more creative colleague @vinisingh.bsky.social while on a truly meaningful question. The paper also benefitted from a caring editor, good refs + copyediting by @standarderror.bsky.social.

It’s here, it’s finally hereeeee!!!! This paper is in the AER because of two people: my co-author @atheendar.bsky.social, and our copy-editor @sameyler.bsky.social.

Alden’s paper is very impressive – it was a pleasure select it! Congratulations. I am curious to see in which journal it will land.

We were delighted to select and present the Best Paper Prize for the 2nd time at the @cinchessen.bsky.social Economics of Mental Health Workshop, this year at @univdauphine.bsky.social to prizewinner Alden Chang for research with Martin Hackmann 1/9 stderr-editors.com/blog/cheng-a...

The effects are driven by patients who themselves have ADRD, who—when assigned a cognitively well roommate—show mortality declines of 3.4 pp relative to those assigned a roommate also affected by ADRD and of 1.4 pp relative to ADRD patients assigned no roommate at all. 4/9

Patients without ADRD, in contrast, show no mortality effects from sharing a room with a peer affected by ADRD. The authors argue that peers contribute to health outcomes in nursing homes by monitoring and giving behavioral support to their cognitively impaired roommates. 5/9

Assignment to a roommate with ADRD increases 90-day mortality from its baseline level for patients assigned no roommate by 7%—over 1 pp. This effect on patients’ mortality is the same as that of receiving care from a provider with half of a standard deviation poorer quality. 3/9

How many authors of development economics papers are women? Around 30% #econtwitter #econsky. Updated calc using my trusty new database of recently published (2021-2025) economics papers, and using the functions gender_guesser and Namsor to infer gender.
